Step up from a fully upped ion?

Realisticaly stick with the ION mate, if your thinking that they are not good enough (bloody public opinion, who gave it to them!) think again. It does what it says on the tin, also if you stick with it a while you won't loose money on the number of upps you've added and you won't start going overboard on marker. I just wrote out a list of gat i've i've owned and its scary.

Also it is possible to be cool with an ION just look at Edd Hobday (and Angel Fragoza).

If you really must upgrade from your Ion then get an Etek, they are a dream and rather cheap for what you get out of them IMO

You could always have some fun with an alias platform timmy (Alias, Naughty Dog, Dark, Russian Legion etc). You can get one for about 200 depending on ups.
