Could you even get done with it. If everyone wants this "hobby" to be a sport but you can get convicted of shooting someone too much are footballers going to get done if they get a red card, american footballers getting done if they send 4 tanks towards the lil guy. I agree its wrong, but hey what you gonna do about it
sorry I've been reading this thread and think this point needs to be made.
Mikey no they wouldn't but name me a sport where the ref gets assaulted by the players. there are plenty of games more testosterone filled than paintball, boxing, rugby, just to name two. i was not at this event but still shooting at a ref is in the same league with a boxer punching or a rugby player tackling the ref. they dont, its a matter of respect.

Is it just NK who are to blame or is there something innate in current paintball that allows players to think this is anywhere near acceptable?

this is not a dig at Mikey or NK, just think the question of respecting refs has to be made.

But when you have signed up to play you are accepting that you are going to be shot, you could argue that massively overshooting a player could be seen as assualt but you'd have difficulty in proving that in court.

What you have to look at is the reasoning behind pointing the gun and pulling the trigger.

If you are aiming at a player and shooting with the aim of eliminating him and a ref gets in the way, that's an acceptable risk on the part of the ref.

However, if you are aiming at a ref and shooting, you can only have one goal in mind, to hurt and/or injure the ref. This is where the law says that JC could have pressed charges, but luckily for your guys, chose not to.

But it's obvious from threads like these that some people will never learn, the whole "well, we're badass and that's why we're good" will really start to wear thin especially when one of your players inevitably loses their rag with the wrong person and ends up banned from a major series or having their heads kicked in. Neither of which would be good for 'ball in any way.

Jeesh ok.

No i dont think its appropriate to be shooting refs. Yes you should have a level of respect for refs, even the sh!t ones ;)

What im saying is i've seen many a ref beat up in a rugby game (living in wales you get to see a few) and just like you say it isnt right but 9 times out of 10 its all sorted at the end of the game rugby player apologises end of. This is whats happened here, NK get a bit wild, someone gets banned or whatever, players apolgise to ref, refs says ok. Job done

Footballers have been charged. They knew exactly what they were upto, yes the police could have been called and they could have been charged. It was down to my choice that they wernt, I didnt want a bad reputation, or any worse than it seems for the sport.

Gassy, more than that :D
