Augean Stables

I mentioned in the 'All Change' thread the Augean Stables, this is where Hercules undertook as one of his twelve tasks, the cleaning of these stables.

Sounds easy till you realize it was the home of thousands of cattle and he had to do the job in one day..the point of mentioning this?

Well, I see our tourney scene, or more specifically our pro scene, as the Augean Stables, full of sh!t and bullsh!t ....

We can't divert two rivers as Hercules once did but we can come up with some working ideas to improve it....what could we reasonably do to improve the showcase of our beloved sport ?

Sensible answers only..oh, and of course humorous ones too

build better stables, self cleaning ones then no one has to clean all the **** out

Cull some of the cattle and have one hell of a barbecue.

I'm speaking metaphorically, I'll allow you to decide what I mean... In the mean time, I'm gonna go have some BBQ Ribs.

I think in all the robbo threads i've commented in, it's always been that we need to advertise more, I mean really get out there and start showing people what we are, to get more of the highly competitive people into our sport. Because you need self driven, competitive people, with the goal to be the best, not the goal of being better than their peers, (which leads to the short term win by cheating and loss of self respect). This is not the mindset of someone who will get to the top.

People wanting to be the best put all they can into practicing. If your goal is just to be better than your peers (i.e to look good), then at practice you won't put any effort in. Take the russians, their level of play filled the void at the top of the pro scene, they train to be the best, not to get the cheap win, so they know they don't need to cheat to get it. And it shows how bad the ego driven teams are when RL roll 'em.

build it and they will come; build it good and make everyone know about it, and they will flood your stables, with the cleanest most competitive water

In other words, you make me feel a lil dumb.

the IPPU should be listened to. The tournament organisers need to start listening to the players and their views and actualy make some changes

at the same time players need to start realising that the organisers do try even if we do complain and moan, things will never be perfect. hopefully things will change in time.

on a more specific note. ref's school. that would be a bonus and i know ALOT of people would agree with me there

also vote robbo as prime minister. he would make paintball a sport and it would have govermant grants and he would look better then gordan ever will
