You talking like the team owes the sponsorer something.

Not really as the company is onyl giveing discount and probely still making a bit of money but the extra money that isnt being earned which is going toward sponsering is an advertising asset. There getting advertising for the money lost so in effect paying for advertising on players and equipment.
ye but how much is this advertising really worth???

have u ever seen sum1 (other than the top teams) wearing a jersey and thought wow.. that team sucks... but i still want that jersey lol

Again, you're talking about a situation in which the company are only giving discounts, not outrightly giving away products... which is what SPONSORSHIP is

Yeah... so? lol. I PAID for a new jersey from KEE afterwards, and would have quite happily paid every penny that I got for the sale of my jersey to KEE if Leah had asked (NB: that time has now expired, dont get any ideas)

Surely the fact that someone wanted a TEAM jersey of a KEE SPONSORED TEAM is evidence that sponsorship works? :S

wanna bet??

go stand behind the counter of one of the companies.... paintballers slag off sponsors all the time.....
it maybe wasnt clear what i meant, as an example a fully sponsored team like nexus or shock who have a sponsorship budget (pay nothing for kit), always represent thier sponsors in the best way they can, slaggin off dye would be shooting themselves in the foot.

teams that just get cheap kit, discount here and there, unless they know the person running the company or are friends with the staff, in my experience dont give a monkeys, they have there cheap kit and are laughin.
now im not sayin all supported teams act this way as, as mentioned there are well represented companies out there, what im saying fully sponsored teams usually value the time and money put into them and have a close working relationship.

thats my point, a fully "sponsored" team dont pay anything for kit :)
a supported team is basically repping a companies gear for about trade price so the company is still making money on it aswell as gettin thier product out there. in that sense does the player owe the company a great deal? thats in the eyes of the player and would be reflected in his attitude hence this discussion on the representation :)

the point im trying to make, and im really only talking about teams that get FREE stuff (no matter how small it may be) is that, they want to be sponsored like other sporting professionals, but a large proportion of them dont know how to behave like professionals.

A team should never accept any sponsorship. no matter how large or small, if they dont want to be tied to a company and/or its associated products.

If you wanna use a product that suits YOU as an individual, and your team mate prefers to play with another brand of the same product, then dont accept sponosrship.... buy your kit and use exactly what you want

The minute you accept sponosrship... particularly FREE stuff, you enter into an agreement with the sponsor and you'e obligated to fulfil your side of the deal. Which does NOT include bad mouthing the product because maybe you had a bad day..... especially because paintballers (even the big teams) will always look to blame something else (eg paint or equipment) before they look at their own shortcomings... like maybe they just didnt play well

:)

i think you are trying to point out the typical behaviour of some proffesional ballers, on a forum mostly frequented by small teams in small tourneys who are over the moon if they can get a hold of sponsership.
