he will be fine with a 3+2+2 or so you can always bend the velcro back on itself a bit

Just to note i'm about a 29in waist and my 4 pod nxe pack fits just fine (though i do have to fold over the velcro) so i'd imagine he'd be alright....

Hi m8 give me a pm as my daughter (age13) has just decided not to play & i have pants,proto chest protector,pack mask etc. Ion with 0.8L 4500psi bottle & a few ups cocker breach,q-lock, planet oops,ego reg & ultalite barrel can supply pics etc.
