pulse trouble

basically my pulse isn't pulsing, just sounds like a swarm of angry bees buzzing away and not feeding.
any ideas?
changing batteries was first thing i tried and i'm not using an rf chip

stupid question maybe, but you can never be too sure... is it in red or green mode?

it doesn't make any difference, although i always had run it in red when using it
