I'm currently waiting on an Ego 07 from the states...

Sent as a repaired item, cost me £580, currently sitting in customs.

Will let you know how much i had to pay when i get it through - should give you a rough estimate.

:D

Though i have e-mailed them telling them it's a repaired item coming from the states, so i shouldn't be paying customs - will see if thats works or not

Hmmm Customs in this country is like an improbability seive.

The can catch and fine a small box 18 inch's x 12 inch's and weighing 2 pounds; but can't catch the 500,000, 5ft9, 185lb illegal "economic migrants" getting in, and bleeding the place dry. Typical.

Well either that or some benelovent Russian Mafiaso is marking them all as "gift" or something???

Alternatively, wouldn't it be better to support your local legitimate Paintball shop?

oooooooh, check out the smartass.

Actually, by the time you get hit for vat and customs duties, your 200 quid saving is less than a hundred. Oh, and while we're at it big brain, whose going to service it / fix it for you.........US sourced markers are not covered by UK warranty. Wow you really are the Sarah Beanie of marker buying.

Could use the same trick as electricals, take item out of packaging, post packaging back to your home address, then chuck the item in your suitcase.

Good plan, assuming:

1. said item is not a 63" plasma TV
2. you are traveling back from the states (which I find somewhat debatable if he's posted the item to himself)

Really support your local retailer. The only things worth importing from abroad these days are:

Nuclear weapons
Drugs
Hookers

none of which attract any form of duty.

US orders... according to my latest Royal Mail robbery form...

"gift" marked limit is $40 value
Any other is limited to $30 value

UK Customs charges, as previously stated, will usually be waived if value is less than £7... however there's a catch. If Royal Mail decide that they want to get involved you might still pay something ludicrous. I had a small parcel arrive this week, the parcel was marked as "Retail Sample", the value was $50 and the UK Customs charge was £4. After Royal Mail took the initiative to get the parcel available for delivery I was due to pay £12.48 or they'd keep my parcel. Apparently the £8.48 Royal Mail charged me included a £1 Royal Mail fee plus a fee for 'presenting the form to UK Customs' and a release fee. That being said, I've had stuff sent over from my family in the US, marked as gift and a stated value of $300 and I've not had any of those nasty fees.

I believe that these fees aren't regulated in any way so it really is down to pot luck whether you get charged or not and it's down to luck over how much you'll be charged.
