just read the thread on the "other forum", i completely agree with you Tom, I think I'm going to ring some of those centers on that website tomorrow just to see. I don't actually need a bottle tested i just fancy seeing who's right :D

in relation to the thread on the "other forum", do you have to be DFT accredited to remove regs, or is that another accreditation? why is all this so complicated.

It's so you don't kill yourself or the poor bas**rd stood next to you at the fill station.I think "competent person" is the required phrase.

Surely it just require common sense? Don't take the reg off while there's still air (or co2) in the bottle...

cheers guys for the info, i think i'll send mine to fat bob's (the £45 one)

I've spent the morning chatting to the DFT, UCAS, DTI, HPAC, and i have a list of the approved and notified bodies that can test PI bottles. I'll be contacting these companies over the next few days, and i'll have a lot more info about this problem then.;)

Be prepared for a hefty bill if they decide your reg isnt up to standards mate, as they'll fit a CE approved one for you and bill you accordingly.
:( i heard about that, but the reg i've currently got is an AIR (fairly old, with a few chips on the LCD cover but otherwise fairly good condition)
mark offered me his AIR which is nearly new, should i fit the new one, and then send the bottle off?
thanks

DO NOT send the reg with the bottle. If you decide to use the service fat bobs are providing ONLY SEND THE BOTTLE.

Ok, but surely they're testing the reg's because they might not work properly if you used them.

Sorry bout all the questions, i didn't think regulators were tested, but then bob's said they were testing them...

At the end of the day it's your decision, I'll be using the fatbobs service when needed!!! Safety should out way cost any day, I'd rather send my full bottle off for inspection, at the end of the day whats the point of just sending the bottle off with no reg when the reg could be faulty! And it's you the owner of the bottle and reg that is responsible! would you want to have some one elses injury caused by you, on your concience because you where too tight to have the job done properly. If you read the service notes you will see that you don't have to have a new reg fitted if they find a problem, they contact you and ask would you like one fitted, if not, they send your bottle back without the dodgy reg then you have to get it done seperatly costing you more money and time than if you'd had it done properly the first time!

Why would anyone lie about where you can get your bottle tested? Money? I don't think so! Dive shops should deal with diving equipment and leave paintball gear to the proper certified paintball air system engineers! people should be supporting services like this and not dis-respecting people who are trying to make the sport safer and raising peoples awareness to possible dangers! End of!

This is my opinion and I stand by it!
