Crossfire / Angel pressure q

I recently purchased an angel 1 (which I'm very happy with). I'm currently using an HP crossfire preset with it (not sure of the actual output, but I can easily adjust so as I'm under 300fps), but I want to get the best consistency and efficiency as poss. Don't really want to get a LP preset, as I know the ideal pressure is in the 500-650 range, so my question is; is it possible to reduce the output to this range (e.g by removing a shim from the regulator), or should I just plump for an adjustable reg?
Any help (Tom :p ) would be greatly appreciated.

HP crossy is fine, A1 will run fine as the recharge rate on these regs is very good, I would stick with it.

If you want to check your output put a 0-1,000 psi gauge in place of the macro elbow on an on/off and screw it on your bottle, hey presto!

Tbh, Joy and Rage are running CP regs with a much higher pressure than you might think!

The crossfire can be altered to lower the output, but the A1 will happily run on HP so i would leave it as it is.

Fair play mate. My only real issue was that my consistency isn't amazing over the chrono - about +/- 10 fps, although I'm sure some of that is down to ball to barrel match (the .691 is still a bit too big). Do you think this would improve if I can find somewhere (poss LIPS) who can make sure my mini-reg is at 270psi and my LPR at 57psi (or whatever they're supposed to be?)

It's second hand, so it's def been broken in. I agree that the paint to barrel match is affecting the issue (will just have to wait to get the smaller sized kit) but how much is down to this is hard to say. The paint is fresh, and though not top-drawer (cos I'm just messing around in the garden), has very few dimpled ones in the case. I only managed to get around 750 shots to one 68ci 4000psi refill, so hoped that fine-tuning the input pressure might improve this also (although again I agree that shooting with an overbore is not ideal for this). I may just be being a perfectionist (read anal:eek: ), but it'd shame not to have it working at it's max potential, as it's such a good marker.
re. my thoughts on the LPR / mini-reg - do you guys think this would help with consistency/efficiency enough to bother with?
Thanks for all the input; Tom you're a gent, as always.

Running lp and with a 4500 fill you're looking at around 1200 ish, but hp and 4000psi would be less than 1000.

ish:)
