This works.
Get a bit of 2" solid square wood or plastic, place it on top of the feedneck and give it a sharp tap with a hammer straight down on top of the wood. This jars the loctite enough to break the seal, remember though don't whack it, just a light tap. Can be done with the strap wrench applying pressure as well.
Sounds odd, but it works.

I ended up wrapping a few layers of electrical tape round the feedneck and then running the joint under hot water for a few minutes.
With the tape round the top I could attack it with a pair of pliers and off it came.
