Skuba tanks

Tinkering ain’t easy
i have a 232 bar dive tank, obtained from a dive shop in fenny stratford milton keynes. the place is worth a look as you pay upfront for about 15 air fills and the tank is free....it works out about the same price as a dive tank from other places but has the advantage of not needing to pay for fills the first few times...
i usually get about 4-6 fills in the 4000psi range and then it drops off giving about another 6-8 in and around the 3000psi range...then lower and lower.
They must be charging you far too much for air fills then, in the past 5 years of diving the most ive ever paid for an air fill is £2.50 (x15=£37.5) and a 232 bar tank (New) will set you back around £120, used but in decent test will cost around £90. Either your robbing them or they massively over charged you

Methinks you have that one wrong old chap, I have used the same dive shop (Dive central?) and whereas they are expensive for fills (£2.50 - £3 a time) there is no way on earth they would be letting new dive tanks go for £45, certainly not 300bar ones. Their kit is good but they are also a bit pricey.

Just having read your post again how are you getting a 4000psi fill from a 232bar (3000psi) dive tank???

Looking for a team.
ooopsi me thinks me mades a mistake lol....was more lik 60 fills lol.....sorry....
and if dive central is the dive shop just down from maple models in fenny then thats the place.....
he usually fills my tank a little over and the first few fills have all been good for about 4000psi...cough cough...excuse me peoples...its a 300bar one of LIPS tanks....but i was gutted because when i got it filled the guy at the dive shop said he could have done the tank for free and you brought this book of refills...i think it was about 60 fills....

My apologies for my errors...wife had a bay on 2 days ago and not had a lot of sleep.

nice guys there though- they came up to play at our site about two weeks ago... oh and just to make it relevant... i have a 12l/300bar and itll be good for a few fills- but it'll need filling again at the end of the day, and ofcourse you have less shots per fill as the day goes on- like tom said.

My 12L 232 bar tank will only fill to just over 3000psi when full, and soon drops to 2500psi or less. It really depends on how empty your gun bottle is - filling from empty really robs the dive tank of pressure. When we take our own air to sites we usually have 4 or 5 tanks on the go, and fill from them in sequence eventually topping out from a 300 bar tank. That way we dont kill the pressure in the fill stations at the same rate, and always have enough in the 300 bar to top the guns up to full.

If a few of you have rigs it's worth pooling your air like this, as you get more fills during a full days play. We use 2 tanks to bulk fill to about 2000psi, and then top up 500psi each on the remainder to finish at 3-3.5K depending on bottle.

My local dive shop charges £4 to fill my 232 and around £40 to re-test. I bought the bottle on ebay for £60 3 years ago, and my A-clamp fill rig set me back £35.

hugely expensive!!!

tests are typically £20 for a visual and £30-ish for a hydro, I had my 15 litre tank done at the end of last year £54 for a full test, new pillar valve and a fill...

My fills are £1 a time at the dive club £1.50-£2 at the shop.
I agree it is a bit expensive - but the dive shop is on my doorstep so I don't burn time and fuel gettiing there. I don't often need fills as most sites we play supply air, and mostly use my tank for setting up at home so a fill lasts me ages. I will shop around for a better price for testing though.
