agree i love 7 man but would welcome a cpl type format in div 1 at the masters,if you think about it if you have one of the 5 fields Wendy has at lincoln and made that the only field for div 1 teams to play on that still leaves 4 for the lower divs to use.

ok correct me if i am wrong here.if you played one match over and hour,with 30 Min's of play that would give 7 to 8 hour of play so you could be looking at 8 teams,to play two in a day ? with volunteer entry in div one to start off

this would also bring out the younger better talent from the lower teams wanting to play the more aggressive format. and improve or grow larger div one teams

this sounds like a plan but would div 1 masters teams take this ? Wendy would also benefit from this so every one wins

Lumps post implies running the CPL alongside the UK Masters 5 man and the Koth - Not the 7 man
Marshalling issues are down to the organiser - but I guarantee you that it will involve extra costs just keeping all the marshalls happy and that cost must be offset
And if 13 teams out in one month and 7 the next what do you do, Does the Winner and Second in Div 2 get that option. Do the bottom 2 teams in Div 1 get dropped automatically.

Guys the idea is a nice idea but think practically, the UK Masters is not the Millennium series with a whole bunch of people on a committee and an army of admin staff and marshalls.
The UK Masters is a very well run small business, which is running to almost its optimum efficiency and you want to increase their workload. That means capital expenditure and someone is going to have to pay for it and i cannot see the Div 2 to Koth teams paying extra for the benefit of Div 1 teams.

You pay the marshalls more for div one then who will want to marshall the lower teams.
If Div one takes the best marshalls then you will reducing the quality of marshalling for the other divs, leading to the lower divs being mighty uphappy. Paying the same amount for lower standard of marshalling.

As far as I am concerned that would be start of the end

If you want to change the 7 man to replicate the SPL then I can see logic of that argument although I am a fan of the 7 man.

The UK Masters 5 man is not the bridge between Beginners and playing the Millennium series. The UKM5 is the feeder event that develops the players to a good standard after that there needs to be another event that prepares them for the higher level of play, if that is a revamped event to replace the 7 man or adapting format run by the PA to suit, then so be it.

Russ, seeing as your obviously keeping an eye on things...

IF the MS continued to use the CPL/SPL format for the forseeable future and there was a demand for it, would you look into using their format? Would you also look into collaboration with other promoters?

Or do you believe that Xball will triumph through both of the other formats?

Merely a hypothetical question if you had complete control of the PA side of things, and using your own opinion.

no offense eric but thats exactly what it should be! a bridge from beginner to the best the country has to offer. If 1 league ever wants total control of uk ball then thats the way forward.

but thats what it would be if the masters 7 man was changed same pool of players /same marshalls/same league but without ruining the existing harmoney of the 5 man event

have to agree with eric when i first read it my main worry was the marshalls the top div would demand the best and moan like feck if they didnt get the best of everything how long would it be from

own field

followed by

own setup zone

best bunkers and setup

everyone else feeling like they are 2nd class


but if the 7 man was changed it would be possible to do everything people wanted but in more than one division
