After getting some of those new Dye 07 Slide Shorts (linked further up the page) I wouldn't want to go back, they are suburb. They give your hips lots of support, the padding really makes a difference when diving around and helps take any pain out of shots as well. It also has some nice padding for the old crown jewels ;) as we all know how painful it can be to take a hit there.

Knee pads are a must really, unless you have some really padded playing pants. Protect your knee's and often your leg from some quite nasty injuries and help give the whole area support.

Arm pads are good for every player on the field, not just the ones with there faces in the mud at the front. Not only do they help protect your elbows from injury when diving around, but also promote lots of bounces from a very large area of your arm.

In terms of priority, personally I would get knee pads first, followed by arm pads and finally slide shorts. Of course this is all dependant on your budget ;)

Hope this helps.

playing pants should give enough padding anyway, really just dive and dont waste money what you can be buying paint with

and how have you managed before, says previously you were in a team, did you wear any then
i didnt mean it nasty but sam has it down right there. spend ur money on paint not slide shorts. just knee and elbow pads. then game on ....

That is why I said it depends on your budget. I also think you'll find there are a lot of high level players that rave about the advantages of slide shorts.

You ask anybody who has been playing a for a good number of years and knee pads are something they will recommend you use as it'll put several more years on your so-called 'career'.

Elbow pads I would say are a must, my elbows are permanently purple through not having adequate protection for diving on hard surfaces in the summers gone. Plus of course the bounces they get are another advantage, the Planet Eclipse elbow pads are definitely worth looking at, they also have a thumb loop so that when you dive in, they dont slide up your arm.

I personally dont wear slide shorts, but normally a pair of baggy shorts underneath my pants do me. Plus the new Tanked playing pants have padding included on the hips, of course they look cool as hell too  (link in sig ;))

Not got any knee pads but I'm looking to get some but I'm quite happy with the extra padding on my playing pants around the knees. I've got some of the planet eclipse elbow pads and I would highly recommend getting a pair whether planet or not, it always amuses me to see shots bounce off ^^
Short wise I just wear my old rugby shorts, haven't let me down yet ^^
