johnmassive;833257 Which is why I am being selfish and want my local series to use ramping where its wanted. How many teams in the upper divisions DONT want ramping? [/QUOTE said:
But, what if the divisions were such that every div 1 and 2 team wanted ramping but every div 3, 4 and KOTH team wanted semi. Then what you're saying is the minority should get their way because they're a higher division?

I have no idea what the actual split would be and a poll on here would only work if you could ensure that only one member of each team would post. Would be interested to know though.

im pretty sure that an individual poll held both online and at a tournament would give a good point of view,

as opposed to a piece of paper getting sent around and word of mouth being the basis of an 'unbiased poll'

also how can people contribute to an argument when they have only played 1 form of paintball. its F*cking stupid if you ask me lol!

i think the best way is to have the higer divs ramping and the lower divs semi still. its the best way as discussed for reasons illustrated by olly.

but at the same token it also gives people something to aspire to should they want to get more involved in paintball. where they are not bullied off the field with the extra firepower the other teams seem to have when they take the next step up

also on another point mentioned...

surely using a simlar theory.. (genepool) we want the best people playing in the tournaments for the level of play to increase if we are dictated by the fun seekers etc then we are gonna stay in the status quo we are in now

people ranting on about uk scene when they are in fact only fun ballers themselves!

Yes it would and until it is done so It will be wrong to assume anything. Im not just talking about ramping in one event but the whole attititude towards ramping as a whole accross the UK.

It would be fair to say though Andy that a lot (not all) of the teams in the bottom half dont really have the experience to argue both sides. Also teams in the higher divisions tend to have more players in their squad than the usual 5-6 members within lower teams.

Sorry, but that has nothing to do with any of this thread.

What you've just said sounds like 'only the best players use ramping, only people who are no good at paintball use semi'.

What mode people use or prefer has nothing to do with how good a player they are/will be.

They may well have more players but the team pays an entry fee for the whole team, not each individual so I think the 'fairest' way to vote would be for the captain of each team to vote on what they'd prefer.

Edit:

There is also a huge amount of criticism of the 'fun' teams and it seems to be the attitude of a lot of people that if you're not in div 1 or div 2 you don't matter and don't take anything seriously.

If I didn't find paintball fun, I wouldn't play and I bet the same is true of most on here. No, we don't take it as seriously as some, but our team have improved significantly since we started playing a year ago and I can see improvements every time we step on the field.

Just because we're not in a higher division now, doesn't mean we're not going anywhere and it doesn't mean that we couldn't produce some good players.

Want to play ramping? Go play the PA ... simple as

Until then put up or shut up with semi, sorry but it had to be said.
I would like to direct you to the start of the thread so you know this isnt a league v league thread but one about the attitudes towards not using ramp modes.

If you dont read the thread dont reply, sorry it had to be said..

thats nothing like what i said dude.
i said it was a different topic to this one that has been mentioned in this thread.

its got nothing to do with the best players using ramp! to which there is no basis for any conclusion.

what im saying is that ballers are constantly moaning about the uk scene and that we cant take it to the americans/europeans

for us to get the best players we need to play a format which encourages the more serious players to play more and one which can be applied to international formats

see where i'm coming from?

Andy, the criticism (from my part) is not at teams in lower divisions but towards the fun teams having a major and influential say in what is suppost to be a competitive environment on a subject they have little to no knowledge on. These are misplaced recballers who happen to play tournament paintball.
