that's cool Dude, its just another option no offence meant

That wasnt aimed at you directly mate nor was it meant nastly, i just dont see the how say if you won the series when looking back i would always wonder if i had reffed one event if i had played it would it have made a difference and not got some cheap points by reffing :)

The thing is, if that system was not in effect, nobody would want to go ref - even if paid - except for the "no hopers" - because the teams aspiring for advancement, would loose their chance if they reffed.

Now, we get fairly good refs, because teams are awared points based on their performance - so they do their best.

As long as the MS cannot employ a full reffing corps, I think the current solution is the best alternative.

Correct me if im wrong but doing it that way couldnt this situation arise

Team A and B are 1st and 2nd in series standings

Team A are reffing last event

Team B are playing last event

Team B play on Team A's field

Team A thinks hmm if we dick them we stand a better chance of winning the series

Or is there precautions put in place for this?

I can see your point mikey but you have to think these teams have got 5 events to play so if they can do 1 event as refs it saves them a fortune.

When i played for kellys the boys played the whole year as we didnt get our finger out and apply to ref in time, whereas the previous season they did, now at the end of the year they won a pro spot (i had left B4 this due to work :( ) so the hard work and extra cash had paid off therefore making it more satisfying to finish 2nd as bullets and a few other top 5 teams had reffed.

But if we had not have got that 2nd spot due to not reffing we would have wanted to turn back time and ref an event.

They divide team refs (Usually 2 per field) plus they are overseen by the PRO refs and the Head Marshall on that field, so I would say that there are a couple of precautions. :)

Mikey I see what your saying dude but getting a refing spot is a very powerful tool if you want the best chance to be promoted as all the top teams are doing it meaning they've already got a 1st place in the bag that you need to work your butt off for. Out of the top 6 teams in div 1 we (Kellys) were the only team that didn't ref and as Will said it almost bit us on the a$$. We had to place 2nd to be promoted and the way that div went all season anything could have happened and we would have lost out, but we pulled through and managed to smash our way through the group of death on Sunday (Bullets, Enemy and Scalp) and then Blackout to secure the CPL spot. Bearing in mind that Bullets and Enemy were fighting for the CPL spot as well as Chilli Peppers that were reefing too.

So the moral of the story is yes we did do it without refing but it was very, very close and yes it had its benefits as we did it with no help or refing points but if you can REF and are aiming for promotion then do it, and do it early as the draw will work out good for you in for coming events due to the way the draws is.

I am unfamiliar with Combat and Hells Recruits - can anyone educated me?
Combat play at the new Combat Paintball site at Snetterton, Norfolk. All 5 of the crew are new to the tourny scene so this will be one massive learning curve for us. We wanted to go over to the event in any case so decided we might as well take our kit and give it a go.

If any of the other teams going can give any advice or pointers then all info will be greatly received.
