I have a mate who touts tickets for everything, and why not! he claims he is the same as any other retail business out there, Do you think PC World only cover there own costs when selling products or do they make profit.
The only reason it annoys you all is because you know the cost price of the item.
Stop letting it bother you, it only exists because people purchase the tickets of them.
Do you think ticket master pay the same as they sell them for and thats before they add on their own extras.
I had four tickets to see a group at the MEN Arena, then found out I could not go so I sold them on Ebay and doubled my outlay, am I a tout........

Nice argument Russell, I can't agree though, it's a scummy thing to do though, basically whoring your time to get tickets.

Having said, for festival tickets if you buy last minute you can normally pick them up at less than face value.

Nothing wrong with it IMO. (It can be annoying, of course I can understand that. But it's not illegal. And if you stop touts then you screw over people who genuinely buy tickets then can't go and have to re-sell them. Which would be much gayer)

If you really want tickets to a particular event for the normal price get on the phone and net when they're released like anyone else who wants tickets.

For some people it's impossible though, I personally have been at work during the ticket release dates, and due to maximum amounts purchasable havn't been able to get friends to buy them for me.

I can see why people do it, easy money with f*ck all effort involved, I just think it's morally reprehensible to in effect blackmail fans who have been unable for whatever reason to purchase tickets as soon as they go on sale.

Edit: For genuine people who find themselves unable to attend a gig, there are a lot of websites about that will allow you to sell them on at face value, which I'm sure would not be included in any ban.

It's hardly holding a gun to their head and saying 'pay over the odds or else'. You have a choice about whether to buy them from the 'tout' or not.

I've been in situations where I might not be available to buy tickets - but if you really want them then you can find a way to get them. Whether it's taking a break to make the calls, get on the net. Getting a couple of buddies to try and get them for you. If you want something badly enough, you'll find a way to make it happen. And disorganisation or not knowing they were going on sale isn't an excuse.

For example, I was on the train on monday when the reading tickets went on sale - I got off at whatever stop at I was at at 6.55 and started making calls at 7 until I got the tickets for my buddy. Then once I had the tickets booked I got on the next train and carried on with my journey. I found a way to make it happen. (PS I didn't buy them to tout)

Many people will claim that touts perform a service - if they did forget the release date, or something 'came up' and they couldn't get the tickets. It gives them a second chance. Again, no one is forcing them to buy the tickets.
