The official answer

Hiya :)

Whether or not you can use your marker at DF depends on a few things:
1. You can get the velocity down to 280fps or less
2. You lock the gun to fire in semi only
3. Your gun is capable of running on one of our 20 oz co2 cylinders which have the anti-syphon set up for an Inferno bottom line.

If not, you won't be able to use your gun.

4. If your gun conforms to 1-3 above, then you must not increase the velocity, overshoot the rental customers to the point where they complain about you, or switch to any mode other than semi. If this happens just once you'll be asked to revert to a site gun as the majority of our customers are rental players and many are first-timers. You will also be required to leave your gun(s) in the gun zone. You will not be able to take them into basecamp even with a barrel sock fitted, until you completely remove the Co2 bottle and leave the bottle in the gun zone.

You can use your own hopper and goggles but you can't bring your own co2 or air cylinder according to our H & S policies.

would 12 gram c02 sparklets be a problem?(the disposible ones used in pb pistols) The marker im planning on using is the Tiberius T9, which has an magazine that contains 8 paintballs and a disposible 12 gram. Its mechanical and semi only, the reason im asking this is at my regular site(Unreal paintball) lots of own gunners go and I dont fancy trying to use a T9 against hords of Egos and Ions!

I'd wait for an answer from the lady herself mate, and might be worth pointing out that whilst the T9 uses 12g capsules the design means you won't be dropping them all over the fields, and that the gun can be rendered completely harmless by removing the magazine. If not then the remote adapter and a hose might be the only answer:(
Good luck using the T9 against the big guns; I'm testing one at the mo and it is a huge amount of fun to shoot:cool:

I hate it when this happens... :rolleyes:

The reason for banning players own bottles was that in many instances the valves weren't fitted properly and that posed a risk to everyone around...remember the unfortunate Mum at her son's birthday party in the USA a few years ago...:(

Strictly speaking a 12 gram is an 'own bottle' and so would fall under the blanket ban, but TBH it's not something we considered when we did the risk assessment since no-one apart from hardcore old timers like Olly Bell uses 12g's anymore ;) ;) Having said that, risk assessments are regularly reviewed...

Has anyone known a 12g to 'fail' and what's the worst case scenario if one did?

In *cough* several years of using markers and other air pistols etc powered by 12g capsules I've never heard of one failing except when clever people have thrown them in bonfires. They are made of steel with quite a thick wall and well over specced for CO2 pressures. If one were to fail it would be the pierce disc at the tip that would go and in an absolute worst case scenario the capsule would jet off until the 12g of CO2 had emptied, but the chances of this happening to a virgin powerlet are so slim as to be negligible in my opinion. Add to this the fact that the marker in question doesn't use any kind of quick change that can release a half full powerlet but instead requires the use of an allen key to remove the capsule from this assembly;

with all excess gas venting safely and I can't see any way that this could endanger any of the other customers. The capsule can only be changed with an allen key that also fits the velocity adjuster so you can't do it in the field and if you only change powerlets in a goggles on area then I can't see any danger. Once the magazine is removed from the marker it takes the paint and gas with it and the marker is instantly rendered unable to fire. Hope that helps a bit- in real world terms there's no real reason not to allow it but insurance is a fickle master and if the policy won't allow it then I'm sure you can find another site that will:)
