The US army were always trying to sponsor the NPPL. They wanted to come in as a platinum sponsor and pay 125k for the priveledge. Pure promotions refused the deal because they did not want NPPL teams to be canvassed by the military recruiters at the event, which was part of the deal. It wasn't a political statement, but PP were uncomfortable with taking money so that unsuspecting ballers could be targeted by the US military and with the potential backlash from parents/captains at having thier family/friends recruited at events.
The US army are having a serious push. You can't turn on a gameshow without seeing someone in uniform these days. Even American Idol had a bunch of guys in uniform auditioning. This is surely a calculated move by the US armed forces and they now have programs in place that push talented squaddies to sign up for TV shows so that positive press can be harvested.

Of course, if they had they had the SAS none of this would be necessary....
but they don't.

and 'bigger than baseball' is a bold statement made possible only by twisting the numbers. Fairly standard procedure these days. Of course its a misleading statement and one MLB would laugh at, in fact I think I can hear then laughing all the way from Harlem...

The numbers don't suprise me at all, woodsball and scenario paintball are HUGE in America. From somebody who is in touch with what happens in the American media about paintball and the general public's awairness it isn't that much of a shock.
VERY pleasing to see both sides represented, not just torny and not just woodsball. Also I liked how he didn't use blanket statements such as all woodsballers think that they are rambo  .

Still in America somebody once said on the Fox news that being hit by a paintball is comparable to being hit by a marble at 300 mph haha, so think is gooooooooooooooooooooodddddd stuff:)

P.S. In America they have prime time shows including the airing of paintball, some shows include something called Armchair commando's a mil sim paintball related game show, although there is also sup air on regular broadcast, it's a balance we lack.( well any accurate coverage would be nice).
