I am looking to try get a decent barrel from just the stock barrel that came with my ego 06. Reading around the freak inserts seem to be the biz but the guy i got my marker from didnt recommend them at all.

In short what type of barrel threads fit the ego 06 eg. smart parts, auto****er, ion barrel threads etc.

Also if anyone can recommend what barrel or barrels as i seem to see more and more people walking around with like a second case just for barrels;) .

Last thing if the freak setup is recommeded what kind (make) of barrel do i need to get to insert the freak inserts. I am guessing here not all barrels are "equal" on the field. :D :)

use your stock barrel for now, or if yu must get a cheap ultralite .692 or something.

in the meantime, while waiting for the Eclipse SHaft2 to come out.
its the stock barrel on the 07 ego and is absolutely mint. Love it.

Freak kits seem a good idea, but you only need a handful of different bore sizes most of the time. .89, 92, 95 would be about right, rarely do you get very small paint. Ultra lights are great personally speaking. See if you can try different sorts on your gun to see which works best.

For freaks you need a freak back in to which the inserts slide, and once done you choose your tip length and screw that on.

ok so egos take auto****er threads

Well i have checked out the dye barrels and they come in different sizes....also they aint cheap. So .692 is the recommneded by everyone then? I an afford 2 at the moment.

If i am going to start my collection of barrels i dont want any duplicate barrel sizes has anyone an idea what the stock ego 06barrel measures .68? is that wishful thinking.

The other thing is that feak now looks very attactive if you buy one barrel with 6 different inserts =6 different barrels.?

If anyone would care to give their preferences a score out of 10 for which barrel setup would be the best that would be very helpful.

Finally thanx for the info so far to all who have replied.
:) :) I just trying to get setup properly and dont want the get the wrong stuff and struggle:D

ok the freak is ok and many people use it but the inserts can be fiddley and easiler broken in bag or trod on i no:rolleyes: the accuracy they give is very good but the dont seem to clear the barrel very quickly if you get a break

so i give them a rating of 7/10

The dye ultra lite is expensive yes but it is a solid barrel no inserts. It is very quiet and gives very good accuracy.

so i give them a rating of 9/10

The lucky un1tec is a new barrel on the market that is very good it is a one bore barrel in thery with two parts that slide over one another, This is slightly lounder than mpst barrels but i cheap at £60 for 3 bores and it very good looking. Doesnt cleans itself very easily but again gives good accuracy

so i give them a rating of 8/10

The other barrel that i recommend is the cp 2-piece barrel this is very much like the dye ultra lite but cheaper, the other difference is that the bore tollerence is not as good as the ultra lites this barrel is quiet, is very accurate and is cleaned easily

so i give it a rating of 9/10

cash verus barrel features

hi steve,

cash is no limit... joke depends on the next pay check (i hope i have one:eek: )and also how much better and features you get with the barrel. I invested in an 06 so dont want to find out a year down the road that if i had a barrel hopper etc then you play 20% better etc. You know what i mean. i have played mostly woodsball and have an apex barrel which is the daddy has no drop over a loooong way. The advantages of a flat trajectory is you can shoot through bushes. A standard barrel has a lot of drop and you need to aim high to hit your target and its %%%%***+++??? fustrating to see someone crouched down,, but branches are protecting him (becasue they block the arc you would need to hit the target with a normal barrel.

As the apex is banned in airball (i assume it is !as in theory you can shoot around objects) mmmm and need a hooper of paint to get it right .......eventually.... oh well.

So thats why i need a new good barrel that is good for air ball and accurate as hell. My experiance to date has led to the theory that if you barrel is 10% more accurate than all the stock barrels out there then bloody get one because at the end of the year say 10 000 paintballs shot =1000 balls more on target than someone else. In a team enviroment which i hope to get into thats more kills. And more people off the field. The fact that i am personally 30% rubbish or below somone who has a rock steady hand and 10years experiance means i also need as many plus points as i can get!!!!!!!1:D :D :D  :p
