Sport recognition is just one step towards that utopia - but a very necessary one. Russ & Co are working towards that step already - and the best of luck to them.

But, what's the next step after recognition?

Anyone any suggestions?
Russ & Co.: Good luck y'all. Although I'm a little pessimistic (probably just the last decade or so talkin') I'd really like to see PB recognised as a sport and everything good that goes with it.

Next step?: Televising alone won't be good enough. For the UK we need a team that blasts all comers in the world to hell 'n back. Once that happens I'm sure that some businesses will notice and start backing UK Paintball as much as in the US. Initially it won't be as much as sponsorship in other sports (unless lots of souls are sold to the devil  ) but everyone loves a winner so I'm sure that some companies that like to jump on the 'popularity' bandwagon (e.g. mobile phone, insurance, fast food etc. companies) will be more than happy to throw some cash around once the UK gets noticed. One problem is that, after it becomes officially recognised as a sport, we kinda have to win in a big way... in a sorta "Accrington Stanley comes out of nowhere and wins the FA cup final in a 10-0 shocker" kinda BIG way. Can we do it? It's not too big a hurdle to get some foreign investors to back UK Paintball, is it?

Looks like Disruption may well become that team. Time will tell - but it's looking promising.

Anyway, I think people need to realise that sup'air in it's present form is just not TV friendly. Maybe a 'made-for-TV' format is needed? One where it's easier for the spectators to follow what's going on (a bit like they did with Dodgeball).

The biggest stumbling block I see is the netting. It ends up as a barrier between the action as most games just end up being a green blurr when watched from the outside. Is it time to use a perspex/plexi-glass type arena? Maybe even have cameras at every corner or even a round/hexagonal field?
