MS v NPPL + PSP

OK, we've seen a lot of thread on here which have basically argued that......

the NPPL & PSP should combine.....

And

the MS needs some competition........:p

Now I know each point is argued from a different perspective with different agenda etc etc etc.

BUT, surely I can't be the only one who see's his as a bit strange

Who is to say that if the PSP & NPPL combine it will not generate the 'monopoly' argument in the present SPL thread. And conversely if the MS had a competing league, would it not have a detrimental effect on the standards of Euro ball far beyond what limited effect the 2 league system has had on the US ???? Euro teams struggle to make all the MS rounds and I bet there are few (if any) who could play two leagues as the top teams in the US can which would effectively split the euro scene.

Now I don't care about the the present issues with the MS (In this threads context !!!). It matters not WHO would be running these leagues (on either side of the pond). I'm looking at the bigger issues. Can both statements be right even if they are contradictory ??????

I can't belive no ones got an opinion on this ?? Having just read the interview with Shawn Walker I suspect re-unification is not on the horizon anyway, and the MS is unikely to have to worry in the short tearm so its status quo ad nausium

Aight, quit yer whining. Here ya go.

No, the NPPL and PSP shouldn't combine. The argument for reunification was that the status quo was economically unfeasible for the leagues, industry and teams so needed to happen. My view has always been that the competition served the broad playership (tho it is hard on the upper tier teams) by improving the product. The folks behind Pacific Paintball obviously think they can make the event promotion biz work and we are at the stage more or less where the promoters either get better or get out. Or, change the goalposts as I suggested a few issues ago in the World's Greatest Paintball Magazine.

Yes, the MS needs something. Competition wouldn't be a bad start however they may very well price themselves out of biz. It will be interesting to see how the modest complaints posted here translate into teams showing up or not showing up.

So no, in this case, both statements aren't correct. :)

Question for you--why would event competition in Euroland have a detrimental effect on the standard of Euro ball?

I don't think you should look toward the imminent signing up of teams as an indicator as to what might or might not happen, the seeds for this little drama to unfold may have been planted recently but their effects may take longer than registration day .....

And the seeds I am referring to here aren't just European player dissatisfaction, I have just spent over an hour on the phone to a few more Stateside seeds ... if I told you, you wouldn't believe me, these Millennium guys truly are a piece of work ...

I give up with them, I just plain give up

Perhaps not but I do think how participation trends will be looked at by more than the MS board and any sense or sign of softening committment from the players (which doesn't strike me as all that solid right now) could preciptate a lot of things.:)

Come on Robbo spill!:D

Not even a teaser?;)

DP
Actually Pyro, now and then, I will throw out a teaser but on this occasion, I was just plain disgusted with what I heard and then I realised something that had been lurking in the back of my head as an unresolved problem...
I wrote that post last night as a knee jerk to having two phone calls and then seeing Baca's post, I swear I wasn't teasing but all this is gonna come out and when I am ready, I will do it !!!!!!!!

Prior to last night, I was skeptical (and obviously cynical) as to the genuine aspirations of the Millennium Board.
I genuinely wanted them to put their act together and put things right and I did so because I honestly thought, that even after all the cr@p they have done (and also their continued employment of ulrich von kilnkerhoffen) I thought they deserved a chance to put things right and treat their customer base as they should be treated.
Last night told me, there is no hope and I was just being used by the board to sanitize what would otherwise be an unpopular mandate.
I should have guessed prior to last night when ulrich wasn't given his marching orders because that inaction on their part, in the light of sooo much evidence, tells me at least, they don't give a sh!t about their customers....

As for what might happen now?
Well, whatever happens, in whatever time scale, they really have only themselves to blame because they have upset some really powerful people within the industry, not least of all their customers.
