To remove the anodising, you can use some brands of oven cleaner, or go for caustic soda, it'll take most of it off, but beware the fumes are nasty!

No, not quite the same, the fumes given off are toxic, and if i remember right flamable too, last time i removed anodising my lungs burnt for a couple of weeks, You'll be fine on small parts though.
