Raffles, we could go round and round about this, but i've seen many Ions working just fine without QEVs after many months of heavy use, and the noids are also fine.

On the other hand, a QEV is a relatively inexpensive upgrade and I can see your point, and understand where you are coming from with that.

Things like trigger, asa (duck bill), grips, feedneck are more a cosmetic thing.
Disagree about the trigger and ASA completely. They are not cosmetic at all in my mind, they are performance and ergonomic upgrades.

A gun too long and unbalanced for the user is horrible and difficult to play and shoot with, and a decent trigger adds more BPS than any other upgrade fitted.

Again, this is just my opinion, and we could agree to disagree over this one! ;)

basically you can change everything on an ION, build one from aftermarketparts, for most though, start small, dont go buying an expencive barel kit, just look at what others have upgraded and see if you like

Upgrades

1.) Maxflo Micro - or On/Off and S-Rail system
2.) Q-Lock
3.) Freak Barrel
4.) Black Heart Board (The best upgrade of all as it gives it a speaker)
5.) Redz trigger
6.) Dynasty Body kit
7.) Firebolt
8.) QEV

I think thats all really with out changing the grip frame.

^^^ I wouldnt put any of those 'upgrades' anywhere near my ion.

2) The Qlock is the worst feedneck in history. The lever barely does anything!
3) Freak barrels can have terrible alignment problems.
4) Blackheart board shouldnt even be allowed to be called an upgrade board. Eye fault detection, shot queuing and having the appropriate adjustment is far better than a 'speaker'.
6) New body shell is a Complete waste of money on a purely cosmetic upgrade. Plus it makes your gun heavier.
7) Ahhh Noooo... Replace the stock bolt with one equally badly made and designed, NO thanks!
8) QEVs make your gun harder on paint.

In short, replace all the parts on your Ion, but NOT with tat that is equally badly bade and designed as the stock parts.

freak barrel
dovetail

like i said, no enough moneys to finish, all it needs is a board and 4 grip screws.

then keep an eye on the classifieds. it looks so good all in dust black :(

Hehe, yeah Ion Crazy that sounds about right.

Actually there are plenty of choices for aftermarket upgrades for Ions, some very good, some not so good.
I was just reacting to the fact that Mr Hush had made us a list the lowest of the low in order to warp our minds (and ruin our ions).

Im definately going to keep an eye on classifieds. Ive got my lowballing arm all limbered up ;)

Hey, they work for me and my Ion works perfectly. Im lucky enough to have pretty strong arms so i dont find the Body kit that heavy.

And by the way i wasnt selling them i was mearly providing answers to the question raised by Will D.

hmm, low balls are never apreicated

Though the annoying thing about ION users, is they upgrade there IONs to the point where its exactly suited to them, and then start lookin at EGO's, Shockers, PM's DM's etc. Then they want to sell, i know not everyone wants to buy £500 worth of kit straight away, but i wish ION users wouldnt upgrade to a massive extent unless they really want to use an ION. I love IONs, but it breaks my heart when a kid puts £200 into an ION and then sells for half that.

Conclusion

Buy cheap stuff

Freak barrels are ok barrels, though i prefer Smartparts All American and lucky barrels. Please dont buy a set of eyes for too much, lucky eyes £12, virtue eyes, £20!!

an ION is cheap for a reason, it seems paintball sites only stock SP stuff which forces guys to buy high priced stuff, someone please explain to me the point of a Dynasty ION?
