Ok so my lcd has ran out of battery power, when i try and charge it up it just says 'Tab In' ive tried to put a cotton bud inside and remove it but it wont start charging, any ideas?
i think you have to remove the tab mate, before you enter the lead into the gat. thats what the manual says ;)

Try leaving it on charge for a few hours, the battery may be so low that it doesn't register enough voltage to kick the charging curcuit in.
On the other hand the battery may be goosed, and you'll need a new one.

when i remove the cotton bud (tab key lol) and plug the wire in it just shows all the screen characters, i think they call it the test screen.

So even though it says 'tab in' leave the charger plugged in and hopefully it will start charging?

You have to remove the tab and turn on the gun to charge. But often the "tab in" message stays on if the battery is too low. Leaving it on charge for a while picks up the battery enough to get the battery charging properly.

After an hour or so, remove the charger and try to start the charging procedure again, it should charge ok if it's cured the low battery problem.

and what about the 'test screen' - this is the order of start up:-

  1. I plug the charger into the gun
  2. The message 'tab in' comes up
  3. A few seconds later the 'test screen' shows up
  4. I pull the trigger and the test screen dissapears and 'tab in' comes up and the screen stays iluminated.
Now i dont know what I did but i managed to get the -SAFE- sign up, also a display bit said FAULT  but it wont let me access the menu to find out what fault number it is, and now i cant get that screen back up.

When you power up it will show the test screen then go to safe, you now connect the charger, and after a few seconds the battery display bar will ramp up and down showing the charging is ok.

That means the battery is way too low. When it goes blank plug the charger in and leave it connected for about an hour. Then unplug and restart the marker and see if it goes to safe, then you should be able to charge it ok.
