Ion Breech/feedneck

OK, whatever my personal views of the ion may be I'm hoping that someone may be able to help out here.

Yesterday my mates back-up/spare Ion got stacked or something, complete with Q-lock feedneck and Halo!

Due to the halo being such a tight fit in the feedneck the Q-lock ripped out from the breach and fooked the threads up on both items.

Now the question is, do we go get a new SP breech and a feedneck to sort it, or is there a cost effective better quality breech out there that is readily available (i.e. not ordered from the us and liable to stupid duty or brought in someone's hand luggage as contraband)?

Ion peeps post up please.

:)

...or LiPS or even SP themselves .

The only replacement breech I could find had cocker threads (for the barrel) - hence the reason I went for a standard ION one.

If "your mate" wants to change his barrel(s) - then I think the Lucky is probably the best out there (especially the BOB ones). If not, you seem to be stuck with an SP one.

you can get both a breech and a q lock from planet
Try not to get another SP breech and definately dont get another Qlock!! That was the cause of the problem in the first place.

Unfortunately your gonna find it hard to get a lucky breech. They stopped production when they started doing the full body kit (which comes with all the upgrades in one).

www.fbmfactory.com do a lever locking feedneck that is far better designed than the Qlock. So it always goes from super loose to rock solid at a flick of the lever, you dont need to send the feedneck down, no matter what hopper you use. They deliver to the UK very cheaply.

PS I dont have any connection with FBM except that I put their feednecks on all my guns, It just annoys me to see people spend more money on the Qlock, which barely works, when there are much better products out there for less money.

Agreed - hence the reason I put CCM ones on all my 'builds'.

EDIT : Just remembered - LiPS have some Trinity locking feednecks in stock. Give them a call.

"your mate"
lol Raffs, it sure ain't mine, I do not, have not and don't intend to own an Ion, I'm just helping out! :)

I thought of Lucky, that would be my choice, but I don't think he wants to buy a Cocker back for his Freak set too. I agree that the Q-lock is poor, designed by a chimp who had never put a vernier calliper anywhere near a Halo or have any real working understanding of a cam-lock mechanism. Just like the breech it is made from monkey poo masquerading as metal, there are much better feednecks out there.

I may well call Chris/Jon at LiPS and/or Jim at Warped to see what is on offer (or I may dig out some military grade epoxy).
