well, the dwell is how long the bolt stays forward once you tell it to fire, i think the stock is 42 milliseconds, if you have a different bolt and its lighter it takes less time to move and is easier to throw back, if a heavy bolt or the stock bolt is told to move a certain speed but cant if doesnt move at all or just spurts air. Upping the dwell will is in the manual, click to the lower button on the board till is shows solid yellow, then hold down the power button for a few seconds then try shottin, repeat if the problem doesnt fix.

One step at a time

If you have not changed any settings since you last used your marker succesfully, do not start fiddling as it is likely this is not your problem.

I fitted a QEV and this seemed to work at first. My marker seemd fine, then it wouldnt chrono consistently until it would just roll the pball out of the barrel. The difference in the change was over about 500 paint from fitting the QEV to failure. We had the reg to bits, then the noid, and it wasn't until someone volunteered the new QEV might not be working did we change that and it worked fine.

So, take a breath, and be methodical about the process of fault diagnosis.

Have you changed or made any major changes to it? Some new components will fail gradually as mine did so think about that. If nothing obvious then...............

Take the reg apart, clean it, lube it in the right place, put it back together.

If this still doesnt work, then move on to another component, of which a good choice would be the noid. Make sure this is clean.

One step at a time try and make sure each part of the Ion is working properly. You'll find the problem eventually.

The Ion aint a complicated beast when you get down to it, so just take it a step at a time to diagnose the problem.

Good luck mate.

This is an unlikely suggestion, but, sometimes the stock duckbill used on IONs are a bit rubbish, so when a factory tech fires up the gun he increases the pressure to make it shoot ok, this is fine for the user untill they change something, like an OOPS, which when aired up can strain the regulator.

right
since i last used the marker and it was working absolutely fine it has had a new eclipse on/off purge put on it. I aired it up and filled my hopper and went to crono it...i stepped up turned it on and shot for nothing to happen but a little phut, again and again...i took barrel off to find all the balls had just stopped in the barrel, the barrel paint match is fine though, the air doesnt seem to be pressurised enough as i took hopper off, cleaned barrel dry fired and still just the little phut-nothing like the normal sound of air firing through so then i stripped cleaned and lubed the bolt etc to put it back together to get no change:eek: if i left the marker for a moment then fired it then it would fire a single shot normally then go back to the little phuts. I put the old on/off back on and no change by this time id missed 3 maybe 4 games and decided that id had enough and nicked my mates vexor (trigger aweful lol) and went out to shoot some paintballs! two of my team mates from Northern Storm looked at it and had a little investigation and were completely puzzeled like me.
I got home and totally stripped it and started to strip the reg (never done before) so manual out and now im stuck driving everywhere around darlo from shop to shop to find a 9/16" deep well socket and rachet to continue stripping and cleaning my ion. SO IF ANYONE WITH AN ION HAD THE SAME TROUBLE OF GETTING THIS SOCKET AND KNOWS OF SOMEWHERE ONLINE OR NEAR DARLINGTON THEN PLEASE GIVE ME A SHOUT!!!!!

so atm im stuck  with know clue about my markers problems

thanks for all your help guys keep it coming

no because i dont know what the micro line is  but the filter on the reg had a bit off cap on it but i doubt it was enough to have any impact on the performance like has happened.
