Did you know that it is illegal to fly the Union Jack without a flag pole...however anyone else can fly whatever flag they like anyhow. Not that the police go around looking for this, but if a complaint was made you could be asked to take it down under caution (unless you can pull a flag pole out of your ass and fly it properly anyway).

Try telling that to some Americans about their flag and you'd probably have another Waco on your hands.

P.s. great post Pete, totally agree.

no, because a lot of them have them on those little poles sticking out the top of their window. or have them hung off of their aerial... which could be construed as a flag pole, even if pole does suggest a rather more rigid structure

Fish - yes they do, and I used to be of the opinion it was over the top, controlling, brainwashing etc...but with the way this country is going one has to question if that really is a bad thing. People who enjoy the comforts of a country should be loyal to it and respect the way of life it offers. Over here, it seems that many are loyal to their 'country of origin' or loyal to the country they live in when it suits them.

this is true, but is there not a very thin line between loyalists, and extremists... even if the media trys to say there isn't.

then again, andyone can be passionate about something they are loyal to, or should be if they are truly loyal.

perhaps all immigrants should be made to join the army to show their allegiance to their new 'home'... wouldn't put it past the government to come up with a scatter-brained scheme like that

*edit* ah, and i see you sneakily snuck an edit in there which covers what i said above :) *edit*

This is what confuses me; generally speaking, people who are educated are better equipped to deal with problems, this is not such an outrageous claim on my behalf if you think about it.
It's also reasonable to assume that better educated people have a more sophisticated and informed outlook on life, I know there are exceptions to this but I am talking generally here.

And so, why is it, that the average liberal-assed idiot who dares to impose this political correctness sh!t on our ass is generally quite well educated????

I mean, if it flies in the face of such commonsense, which it obviously does, then how come these so called sophisticates have got it sooo wrong??

Ivory-towered idealism springs to mind whereby these people are socially detached from the problems their philosophies cause but surely they read the papers, they must know the effects, surely they must be aware of the injustices?

Do these people see these as merely hurdles on the way to some social paradise where all peoples, no mater what culture or ethnicity intermingle, walking around hand in hand singing John Lennon songs.
Im 'fakking' possible !!!
It will NEVER happen, we are human and not a construct of some misguided liberal dealing in candy floss mentalities.

We have likes and dislikes, we all have many faults and like it or not, we prefer to be with our own kind, I'm afraid it's part of human nature and to deny this is ignorant, pretentious and smacks of a first year, middle class, social science undergrad getting carried away with his / her enthusiasm to put the world to rights.

These people who spout this cr@p just haven't grown up, some of them may well be educated but they haven't got the wisdom to apply that education. They haven't experienced the very real problems they are creating by trying to indoctrinate us all with this romantic bollocks of social harmony.
It ain't happening, it ain't gonna happen, so let's work around this and with this.
