there you go, Im comparing us to other sports which I know will be frowned upon but its the direction we want to go right?

Actually, I think paintball should be compared to other sports more than it is now.
Forget the sports council or whatever they are called. You don't need an official label to be a sport.

People are always shouting "We're a fooking sport mate! Now pass me my sixpack and ciggies, I'm off to the players' party."

Start comparing what you do at your level to the same thing in another sport. Take football/soccer for example.
You got your kids that kick the ball around on the corner and don't do much else. This is comparable to people shooting paint for the fun of it. No ambition, just something to while away the hours.
Next you have the clubs that play at the lowest of the lowest level. They train together at least once a week. Which should be the same for paintball teams at the lowest level. For every level you go up, it's safe to say that you may add another day of training. Simply put, you want to be the best in the best league, you should be working on your skills and physical fitness as a team or individually every day of the week...

Problem is that most paintballers can't seem to take a hint from other sports...

i think its really unfair to be saying that UK ball is going downhill. When it comes down to it theres a major split. You've got the guys that do only play tourneys and do only buy flash gear. And then theres the dedicated. Down at Dartford you get the same lot every week, week in week out. Northern Quarter, just the same. And i bet theres other smaller sites which see teams regualary training but we just dont see them because they use small private sites. Surely maybe we should be saying that there is a glimmer of hope and highlight those specific teams as an example?? I mean how the hell are people meant to get motivated if critisicm (sp) is always thrown their way. Yes sometimes people need to be told the brutal truth or else they aint ever gonna see whats going on but maybe if someone finnaly started going out and saying "hey man, you guys are on the up. looks like its gonna be a good season for you". Ever think that maybe if just once someone publicly said it people would jump on the bandwagon and start training again. I mean heck its not even that much. I know Dave keeps his prices as low as he possibley can even though its his actual living. And Markie C gets paint as cheap as he can get and no-one will give him a deal to help. Maybe if we were told in a nice way to get training then the both of them would see an increase in the amount of people training. Or perhaps if we just shouted blue murder it would work as well.....cos its working now right?

The teams that ARE doing the right things do get their praise. It's the teams that make a lot of noise but refuse to take action that deserve the kick in the ass and reality check. Sadly, those teams are in the majority.

I haven't read all this thread, perhaps I should, but UK ball is going sucky sucky from top to bottom when compared with Europe and the USA - not trying to be nasty or an a$$hole, it's just the truth, people just don't want to hear it or want it bad enough.

Anyone that needs people on the forums, who they more than likely don't know, to drive them on is not gonna get anywhere.
I agree there is a lot of negativity around at the min but tbh, it just makes me more determined to work hard and win sh!t. I train 2-3 times a week and have still got a long long way to go before I get to where i want to be, it amazes me how people can pick up a marker once a month and then come on here and spout about being the next big thing!.
fair play to all out there who are working hard at it ( and there are a fair few Robbo) but we do have a long way to go before we prove ourselves.

I don't know more about the Brit pb scene than what I see at the Millenium and read here.

But I am pretty sure that I would pick the UK before Norway if I was trying to build a worldclass team.
