Agreed 100%Maybe I did not put my point to well or maybe I was a bit general, I was not really referring to the big name woodland sites but to an operation such as the one which was referred to at the start of this thread. The rent and rates on commercial property are pretty much licensed piracy.
The beauty of woodland or Greenfield is that in comparison they are a very small layout in compared to an indoor operation. The rent and rates still have to be paid for both but an indoor arena is by far more a huge investment and gamble. I think almost every indoor centre has folded due to the crippling drain of money to the coughers of the government and the incredible high per square foot rent. I think I have gone round the houses to say that we as regular tournament or rec ball players want the fantastic facilities but will never be prepared to pay for them.
The so called “punter” may well pay £50 or so for a couple of hundred paintballs and half a day’s entertainment and we can cry robbery, but the bottom line is it’s a commercial business and we are not prepared to pay one penny more but the once or twice a year man will.
I had a ticket to Robbo's clinic for sale for only 20quid for two whole days of paintball education and no bugger bought it. Says it all really. The big issue is that many paintballers seem to be as smart at the way they spend their money as those that sell the big issue...
When I see people that have an outfit that costs more than their gun, or players that have to have a new gun every six months, the latest outfit every year, I just shake my head. And when they then claim that training is too expensive, I just want to kick them in the teeth.
Yeh you are right Jay, they do learn more by just playing, I have been wrong all this time and the present state of UK paintball reminds us all just how good we have become on the back of this new understandingC'mon Pete, you KNOW that people learn more from getting blasted 5 seconds after game on, 8 times in a row, than they could ever learn from you. I mean, what have you actually done in paintball...
