Why not just buy an EMF pulse generator - and turn off everyones markers?

Then they'd all have to stop laughing at you for taking them out with your mech/pump :p

Haven't looked it up, but I'm sure they will have thought of this and the range for the RF transmitter/receiver will be no more than 30cm (1ft) most likely - Doesn't need to be any more than that when mounted on a marker.

A receiver doesn't have range, it either receives the signal or it doesn't. The transmitter has a range based on its transmit power. You could jam the receiver from the sidelines if you used enough power. It doesn't matter if the software is encrypted, unless its spread spectrum, frequency hopping but I can't imagine it would be. Even then, you could jam it over the whole frequency range. Its just a question of having enough power to essentially deafen the hopper's receiver by drowning out the the gun's transmitter. Hard to do when the gun is so close to the hopper but with alot of power it is possible.

Been doing research into 'specialised equipment needed for the 07 PA events' have you now Tim ;)

The man speaks the truth. I reckon the majority of people using them will be people who just want the fastest full auto possible for rec games in the states anyway. The only 'real' trouble that could arise would be at major league tournies during the 'money games', where i'm sure most players wouldn't bother to use it as it easily feeds above 15bps on the pulse mode already.

Thinking about it you wouldn't need to transmit the exactly right signal.

All you would need is a strong enough signal over multiple frequencies, it would drown out the RF transmitter in the marker. That in itself would cause probems.

But your probably right, pros would not risk it.

DP
a stong enough signal? id go the other way, if your marker and hopper are far away then your doing something wrong on the field! i think a weak signal that can only be picked up at a very (im talking centermetre) close ange would be better. maybe a weak receiver would prevent interception via 'other' uses/hackers....

saturate the airwaves with a broad frequency radio system.

it wopuld screw the thing up, like trying to talk to someone while 100 children are crying and killing each other in the corner.

however to be honest...that kind of kit is expensive and complex. the amount of power, and cost you would need to entirley satuarte a given area with "noise" is not worth it for the problems you would cause to the other team, plus it would be unsportsman like, and a very trollish thing to do...not to mention geeky. paintball is geeky enough without people setting up sci fi radio jammers.

anywho, even if it does work...flip the rf switch off...and ooooooo, a normal loader. alternativley wrap everything in tin foil, including your head. it will stop the cia mind probs too.

It's not different frequencies it's encryption IIRC.
Yeah but if the receiver can't pick it up due to being drowned out by a 'jamming signal' it don't matter if its encrypted.

But I don't think it would matter, someone would have to go to alot of trouble to get a 'jammer' working. And if the players in any 'important' games don't use that function then what's the point?

Cheers
