Why change a winning formula? Do they make the football fields 20 metres shorter to try and promote more goals, or do they accept that maybe sometimes teams will want to slow things down.

Its hard enough for the refs to keep up with the players charging down the field, now you want to make it that bit easier for them? Good luck being the ultimate who will get even more abuse

Didn't they make the goals bigger for precisely that reason ?

The only reason they've not changed any rules in football, is the fan base couldn't cope with it. Look how long it took the off side rule to be understood ffs.
Quite a lot of sports have revamped the rules to make it more equal to compete.
Motor racing is probably the most visible sport to do this.

Then you go and pick the only rule they seem to change every year as an example
Im not sure where you're going with this as what is there for a fan base to cope with in this instance? It's not like they're bringing in completely new rules and all of a sudden people wouldnt get it. 'oh my, what is this, they have a smaller pitch, I do not understand!'

Dskize, from what I know, there were talks years back about making the goals bigger, but they didn't, so unless you are going back beyond my time, I dont know of a change in the size of goals :)

Anyway, back on topic...

i think it's easier to move with ramping it's much easier to run and gun to keep people pinned.

the defensive cross up teams will do the same no matter what you want it lowered to.

Field set-up is the major thing to promote movement you need cool killer bunkers as an incentive to move. i've played fields with massive gaps between bunkers that make it real hard to move.

Teams like manc union and inferno had no problems moving in Div 1 of the PA and that has been played with PSP ramping all year. At the last leg manc union were running all over the place.

Guys, let me make one thing clear, I am not particularly bothered about the rate of the cap, only that all leagues use the same rule so the gun cheats don’t appear again and they will if people want an advantage shooting offhanded.

Paul,
You missed your chance at the World Cup mate, I was talking with Doc for a while and I had my UK-Refs shirt on with my name on the back, perhaps I will give you a chance at HB.:)

Russell, I believe if this poll had been posted prior to you guys adopting 15 bps, we would have had a different response to the one we are seeing now, the question that should now be asked is, 'why'? .....

What would be the difference in the way you enforce 12bps over 15bps? Both require electronic gadgets to check, so how would this prevent "cheaters"?
my thoughts exactly, yes there is a 3 ball difference and i'm sure most people would be able to hear a cheating gun (or rather one going over the cap limit) if the lower rate was adopted, but how many gun cheats have we caught in the PA this year Russ?
I think 15 is fine because thats what i'm used to, i wouldn't even mind a cap of 10bps, but that would defeat the objective of having highly tuned markers which can cycle effeciently at a fast rate. So we might as well all get our old pumps and mechs out. Life generally is speeding up, although for many of us (including me now) we think things have to slow down! :)
