Props to you man, despite the skepticism, everyone would love to see UK paintballing promoted further.

Either way, doing this can't hurt at all now can it?:D

Good luck with the new petition!

(Oh... and you still might want to check a few spelling errors......:p)

I think we need to introduce a touch of reality here. Whilst it's always cool to see enthusiasm from the young, it sometimes does more harm than good when that enthusiasm is left to flourish untempered.

Making representations such as these to media companies has to be done responsibly and it's no good people getting behind a rallying call to 'promote our sport' when that call comes across as some sixth form enterprise that looks more like a school project than a concerted and serious effort to redress any injustice regarding our sport.

The nature of any representation can influence whoever sees it and if any representation is gonna be made then I would tend to want to see it done from some of the more mature and experienced members of our sport such as Bully, Fuggle, Baldwin, Russ Steele, Sid of the Clan, Chris Pelling and Co.
These guys are well versed in what needs to be said, they have the experience of dealing with people such as the media etc and can represent us with a mature and reasoned appeal.

I think it's great you guys actually wanna do something about it but there are ways to go about things and trust me on this one, your representation may do more harm than good if the people on the receiving end have no idea what age you are and erroneously believe the representation to be from us as a body... you get my point?

If you are gonna pick a fight, make sure it's at a time and place you can win it, and if it's a tough fight ... get some people who know what to do to go with you ....

while it is a good idea in principle i think that letter is a little on the brief side. ideally as Robbo says, it should be presented in more detail by people who actually have the connections and background to lend some credibility to the case.

paintball is still a "niche" activity, and until it is recongised officially as a sport it will remain so. we all love it, but some people are equally passionate about knitting and you don't see that on telly do you?

there are so many extreme sports, and niche activities that unfortunately paintball does not get a look in. it is difficult to put across on screen, and so far it would appear that the main contender (ESPN/SmartParts) is failing in its bid to gain a permanent slot on mainstream telly.

if they can't do it, with the money and connections they have, things don't look hopeful..................

Yeah , i argree with what you are saying, and like i said i would of been passing this petition to someone more experiance in this type of promotion..
thats what i say "I will be sending it to them" i dont mean it quite so literally.

It would of be good to see some of the people who are high up and known in paintball like you mentioned earlier, to try and orginize some way of promoting the sport. i do also understand that all these people are very busy people and that would proberly explain why it hasnt happened yet.

Many thanks for the Replys boys .

Its good to see theres a real drive here to push forward and promote paintball, theres just no guidance or any leading for it. Think we need to start a little lower though, get more people attending matches, get some more spectators! Then move on to the TV.

But meh, in all fairness paintball is still young, it will be on the telly one day, just a matter of time me thinks.

What makes you think that? I'm not having a pop at you but are you seriously suggesting this is the first time anyone has tried to get UK paintball on TV? A lot of the 'busy people' mentioned above have spent year promoting and representing paintball in all areas before you came along to sort it all out:rolleyes: and might resent the implication otherwise.

The bigger the station, the more their strategy will be directed towards selecting programs with mass appeal. Anything that does not have mass appeal will simply not have strategic fit with their goals as a large broadcaster. On top of this there is also the direct financial aspect in finding sponsors for programs, and advertisers willing to pay for slots when paintball is aired as opposed to other shows with wider appeal. Paintball simply cannot deliver the same revenue as other programs and would need to promise MORE to justify change and investment in the first place. Channels like ITV especially are counting the beans at the moment.

I think people need to be a lot more realistic, if paintball is going to kick off on TV anywhere it will be the US first. If anything, the UK would be the last place (excluding developing countries) that would pick it up. Our paintball demographic, or lack of, says that loudly enough.

The thread with nearly 8000 views in SYB is about 'which gogs look pimp', which says it all really.
