Paintball rightly so started in the woods with lumberjacks shooting the trees they wanted to fell. As for some sort of law it is called the "fire arms act" so it carries some weight.

I wish i spent £150 every three months on paintball as i can do that in a day and more lol !

The £50 stags don't come to the site i use lol they are tight arses who keep their cash for drinking lol.

If you mention that your at the stage where you know your guns range and only have to shoot one or two balls to hit Joe Bloggs. You really do need to look at the woodland walk on days and there are plenty around in every area of the Uk. Or join a team and enter Genisis as both South and North games and Bully has one sound team behind him working hard to do good days ! Or look at www.ionman.co.uk if you can get a 5 man team.

If not you'll fall into what is known as a punter hunter as going for easy targets.

Don't go down the local woods even if you find a group of guys who do as it harms the sport doing it illegally.

i agree with shadlad

as he stated i agree, how ever well u think you no your guns effective range that doesnt make it safe, dont think that you can just find some private land to go play on its not that easy which is good. it is partly that sort of view that gives paintball such a bad image, its not worth it im sure you wont take much notice on the views of what have been said becasue you do seem hell bent on finding this private land group thing

From what you've posted it sounds as if you're planning on playing away from organised sites i.e in local woods etc to be honest this is a pretty dangerous idea with serious reprecusions if you get caught.
I may have misinterperated your posts, if i had then i'm sorry for what i'm about to say. But that idea is F@cking stupid. It only takes one dog walker or rambler etc to stumble into the area you're using for paintball to make the national news for all the wrong reasons. If a member of the public loses an eye or worse cause of a paintball we can all look forward to new legislation that will pretty much kill our sport.
Stick to proper paintball sites where everything is nice and safe. I used to use an Automag pro classic at woodsball walk-ons and could hold my own against all the 15bps electros about.

safety

Well it seems that the "safety" is the issue of discussion and not the orginal topic. i accept that it would be a concern for people. However the typical knee jerk reaction a member of the public might get hurt etc etc. Legistlation will change our sport forever comments, please. That is a simply not what my orginal post was about. I asked about private fields club, and by club that means there would be safety rules etc are followed. I can understand the perception that say a group of teenages running around and estate with paintball guns might be cause for concern.

My prevoius post about playing on a private farmers field where members of the public / ramblers are not allowed are trespasses, they are breaking the law. If anything happened worst case senario getting run over by a tractor or the barn falling down on a "rambler" and injuring him or worse, shall we ban barns and tractors? What rubbish,(NB tractors have killed more people than any paintball accidents) . I have played on numerous sites all the "big names" they are all sited on farms.....and pay a rental charge for the privilage. I have yet to see a sign saying warning deadly hazard keep out signs on any field where a stray member of the public could wander in and get injured by walking across some fields into the paintball area. So weither they field was managed by a club or company the risk very small exists for both.

oh and by the way my clay pigeon club is 20 min drive away on a field and not run by a company:eek: The range on a shot gun is a lot longer than a paintball marker. why do they have a club and not go through a company, becuase it cheaper thats why, to have a club in the first place run by members who are responsible and there is no profit margin. People do it for the sport:) :)

doesnt work like that mate as long as its your land or land you have permission to use
and your more than 50metres from a main road your ok

same for shooting if your out going after deer/rabbits/rats with wings

If someone else gets hit ie enters the area you are in its there responsibility in many cases you would be able to sue them for causing mental distress to you

trust me a lot worse things can happen if you wander over a field mostly being run over by tractors 4x4's and quads

keep the people in the citys and out of the fields

on the plus side since the right to roam act numbers of ramblers have droped and look to be on a steady decline a realu nice way to waste upwards of 50 million setting the act up

airsoft operates as a club.

Seems there are lots of airsoft clubs that are operating on their own fields. Just cannt seem to find any paintball clubs. Most universities i have phoned still play on commericall fields. Although they agree that if they had their own field would be a lot cheaper and generate more interest since most students are on a budget.

Public liability insurance is easy to obtain if linked to an educational establishment.

I also checked out the legal fire arms act stuff with my police friend and he has spoken to his collegues and they are not worried about playing on public land. They would definitly be concerned if it was done on a public ground though.

Out of interest would anyone consider playing in a club enviroment?:) :)

my first suggestion would be try another site. If they're not interested in your loyal woodland custom, someone else will be and in the end they should realise. Any good site should have a membership scheme, it smacks of stupidity not to.

my second; make sure you've exhausted all paintball sites before you try this, but (maybe i've interpreted wrong) you may be more at home with an airsoft club. The reason i say this is, i have a friend who plays airsoft and he makes the comparison that they like it more real, and we like it hard, in your face and fast.

If you're only shooting 250 balls then it sounds like you're hiding in bushes, playing a slower game than alot of paintball that i see being played at my site, and from what i hear, airsofters don't sprint from their breakout point, or have a regular front line, and they also have cheap ammo and a club atmosphere, the site i know isn't out to make a quick buck.

Not that we don't want you or anything ;)

Hope that helps mate

sites

I have tired quite few other sites. Dont know if i am allowed to mention names on these forums but the main D... F.... say corporate policy fixed prices etc. The other one uses winter paint balls all year round and if you take you gun they are chronoed at 230ft. Might as well throw paint by hand ....   .

My local one has the usual 15quid entry and then you pay the corporte rate for paint £7. I perfer this site of the others becuase as you right hinted that i do like sneaking around and they have big wooded fields. I cannt stand the ones where you look at the other team before the whistle goes and know which direction everyone comin,,, and it goes to 50-50 real stale mate real quick. everyone trying to go for the google shot at 40 yards .

Airsoft didnt know much about it till i got lost trying to find a paintball field and came accross an airsoft site, they scared the cra+ out of me looked like real weapons. But close combat BBs is not for me. I didnt see any of those guys wearing anything that was not green army camo.

But i think you are right about the setup of the airsoft. They are non profit and still run semi professionally or more so from what i heard. Cheaters get banned end of story something that local punters dont...... mmmmm airsoft...:p ;) :) but i think some setup local club would do alot of good for people on a low budget,,,, (just about everyone):D
