why not release them when you have teams that are properly sponsored to shoot em? XSV, Bushy versions of the SL66 specifically tailored for those teams an hell why not, if you can do. 
Nexus versions again specifically tailored and marketed for that team.
Then the 06 version as a standard and the Etek as a low cost alternative (which just bloody rocks).
The nice thing about the ego is that it just gets better with each revision (when it's already a class machine gun!).

looks like the market is saturated with them and they need to move a load of extruded bodies,at the end of the day if the kids keep buying them cos it has a very minor change who are the mugs???
The fools buying them new and selling their months old ones to the rest of us for bargain prices.
Egos are great but do we really need yet another variant? WDP got such a bad rap because they released 2-3 a year but Planet are whiter than white. Where's the inovation? Where's the economy of scale pushing down prices? (if you think the e-tek is 'cheap' then you're on crack). Unless they start doing some intresting things in time for World Cup i feel that the Ego may be left behind in much the same way as the Intimidator did in the face of 'the next best thing'. Whatever shape that may come in, The Mini, Dye's new low priced toy, the NXT etc..
