It nice to see PBUK mag still supporting UK teams why can't PGI do that instead of talking about it. UK teams doing well should be recognised for their achievements, can anyone explain why they are not. In PGI mag UK teams only get negative publicity.

This is my opinion, anybody else got one?

Great coverage of Kellys and the Notorious Kids Results at campaign by PBUK.

For years of reading PGI i always thought it was an American Mag untill recently. I cant recall ever seeing a Uk Team/ Player on the front cover, Its Usually American or other European Teams.

The occasional glimps of a Uk player gets into it.

Dave - as far as I know we had a piece on your site and NK going in for this coming issue 212, and as far as bigging up UK teams, I think Kelly's are the only ones who have actually done something anywhere near the top at the moment and we have covered that in the up and coming Campaign Report.

PGi is an international magazine with 95 % of our readership and customer base in the States and therefore our editorial will reflect this and it would be commercial suicide to feature too intently on UK teams as I don't think many Yanks are gonna be that interested in the Cleethorpe Rangers who have just played the Hull 5 man.

PBUK is, as the name suggests, a UK magazine and as such can, and does focus on our domestic scene.

Now whilst a lot of UK teams and players may think they deserve or want more coverage in PGi, there are hundreds of other teams in Europe who would have a similar gripe and these would be just as unwarranted because if we went down that road, we would be broke within six months.
There is nothing special about us in the UK that warrants coverage outside of achievements and at the moment, our achievements are very thin on the ground.

If Brit teams wanna get more coverage then I am afraid they need to do more in terms of tournament success which comes back to the self same problem we have had for years in this country, very few wanna actually do something about it and at the moment, the top end tournament side of our sport really only has 3 reps, Nexus, Shock and Kelly's..that's it I'm afraid.

The moral of this story, if you wanna read more about UK teams, then go buy PBUK, if you wanna read about the top end of our sport as is reflected in the US and Europe, then PGi is where it's at.

pbuk didnt really cover the fact that we came 2nd in div 3 at CC

i thought that might have counted as an acheivement but at the end of the day we arent really too bothered. we have a lot of work to do this was just a start for us and we ourselves know what we did so thats what counts not some half paragraph in a magazine.

if there is nothing worth writing about you can hardly blame PGi for not going down the road of making a page of waffle that is of little significant interest to anyone other than perhaps the vain ego's of the person being written about.

(this is not meant as a diss to anyone, just what i see as a fact)

I can see all the points flying across and yes as you state 95% of sales are in the US so that has to reflect in the magazine or it would be buisness suicide.

BUT can PGI do little in the magazine for the brit ballers like every month just a couple of pages telling us whats gone on in the UK and Europe.

PA/NSPL/UKM/X5/CENTRINO don't get mentioned that much, ok they not high flying but still people in Europe and hopefully the US would be intrested in this.

Not asking loads just 2/3 pages a month..

All the Best

Lovetone, it's a very easy scenario to work out, if we start to cover UK teams to the level some people want us to, the following would happen but before I explain, I wanna explain something else.

About 10 years ago, the UK side of things took a massive nosedive and whereas we had something like 20 different UK companies supporting the UK magazines, this plummeted to who?
Planet and WDP, now this is gonna keep nobody alive, least of all a mag with the overheads we have, and so, we had to internationalize our mag to stay alive and that meant opening up distribution to the US and the rest of the world.
We are now the number two selling magazine in the world (next to APG) and this is solely because of our US sales.
If the coverage started to tilt back toward UK teams, we would soon lose our US readership which has a knock on effect of losing advertisers.
There are probably 500 tourney players over here with about 8 million ballers in the US and with tens of thousands of tourney players over there, the maths is easy...

The answer is also as simple, we need to get our teams back up there and the up and coming interview we have just done with Magued from Joy explains how everybody can do it if they show true commitment and hard work.

And so, it's down to us as ballers to create an environment where we improve as players and teams and attendant press coverage goes hand in hand with that.
