pbuk didnt really cover the fact that we came 2nd in div 3 at CC
i thought that might have counted as an acheivement but at the end of the day we arent really too bothered. we have a lot of work to do this was just a start for us and we ourselves know what we did so thats what counts not some half paragraph in a magazine.
if there is nothing worth writing about you can hardly blame PGi for not going down the road of making a page of waffle that is of little significant interest to anyone other than perhaps the vain ego's of the person being written about.
(this is not meant as a diss to anyone, just what i see as a fact)
Lovetone, it's a very easy scenario to work out, if we start to cover UK teams to the level some people want us to, the following would happen but before I explain, I wanna explain something else.
About 10 years ago, the UK side of things took a massive nosedive and whereas we had something like 20 different UK companies supporting the UK magazines, this plummeted to who?
Planet and WDP, now this is gonna keep nobody alive, least of all a mag with the overheads we have, and so, we had to internationalize our mag to stay alive and that meant opening up distribution to the US and the rest of the world.
We are now the number two selling magazine in the world (next to APG) and this is solely because of our US sales.
If the coverage started to tilt back toward UK teams, we would soon lose our US readership which has a knock on effect of losing advertisers.
There are probably 500 tourney players over here with about 8 million ballers in the US and with tens of thousands of tourney players over there, the maths is easy...
The answer is also as simple, we need to get our teams back up there and the up and coming interview we have just done with Magued from Joy explains how everybody can do it if they show true commitment and hard work.
And so, it's down to us as ballers to create an environment where we improve as players and teams and attendant press coverage goes hand in hand with that.
