Congrats joy!

Robbo, whats your take on this? You have written hundreds of posts and articles about how Euros were trying to win in the US, all the way back when the Preds came second at the WC. Would be interresting to hear your comments now when it has finally happened.

Cheers

The Preds were of a different era and cannot be classified in the same way because Joy's achievement is a whole new ball game and is significantly more remarkable because of the modern environment in which we find ourselves.

Joy are the beneficiaries of everything I have been advocating for the past 'god knows how long'. They train hard, they train well and their players are committed and hard working.
They always listen to what Magued tells them and they work together to produce on-field performances that are not only consistent but of sufficient quality to usurp the Yanks from that top spot on their own territory and trust me, that takes some doing.

I know Magued extremely well, I know how his mind works and I know how his players react to him and this relationship is key to understanding the progression these guys have undergone in the past year or so.

If I were to distill the main reasons for their achievement, it has to be down to training, the frequency and quality of that training ... many teams train and don't know what the hell they are doing and end up wasting their time although they 'think' they are putting the work in.

We have teams over here who do just that and they won't ever progress because they do not understand the game at it's most fundamental levels, Magued does and this shows in the results Joy have attained.

I have nothing but respect for those guys in achieving something unique in the modern game by taking that first spot with everything seemingly against them.
Well done Mag, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy and Sweden should be extremely proud of what he and his players have achieved.
I don't like jumping on any European bandwagon here because this is a Swedish victory as far as I am concerned and I personally will not allow myself to feel any pride for someone else's achievement, I ain't that cheap.

I wanna see us Brits up there, I wanna see us Brits do what the Swedes are doing but all the time we have people in-fighting, believing they know everything and going through the motions of training then we have little to no chance of emulating the Swedes.
I am a European yes but that don't mean sh!t to me, I feel more pride about Joy's result because Magued is a friend of mine and has nothing to do with geography.
Well Done Mag, well done Joy....and for us Brits, FFS let's take heart from this result and get our collective ass in gear and get some pride for ourselves and not have to reclassify ourselves as Europeans as a means for taking some credit, let's go get some for ourselves.

Thanks!

Thank you Pete!

Only a few people understand how much this victory meant to me, and I know you are one of them!

You know what, I am a bit unhappy that Joy get a win like this, and we have to talk about it on a thread about Nexus escaping the relegation zone. When Magued was interveiwed he emotionally dedicated his win to all of Europe, and Europes premier forum are more interested in the demise of XSV and Nexus playing Sunday to give them due respect for what they have acheived (with the exception of Pete).

Magued, glad you got home safe. The trophy is on the way to Birmingham and I am sure there will be a hell of a party there waiting for you when you get there. You're the man.

ps. Its actually a 5 horse race now.

Missy, the predominance of people on this site are Brits, and although the modern day rhetoric is all about Europe, togetherness and all that crap, the harsh realties are somewhat different.

I think most Brit paintballers feel some connection with the Swedes but I would venture it is not that much more than we feel for the Yanks, certainly not significantly more so as to engender the majority to participate in a thread back slapping the Swedish victory.

It is a remarkable achievement and I feel proud because Magued is a friend of mine and it is on that basis I want to applaud such a result and certainly not because I'm a European.
Being European means bugger all to me, being English however means everything.
Nexus will always have a more profound connection with us Brits because it was initially made up of amateurs and novices and just 3 pros when it first begun and somehow represented all of us.

The reluctance by most Brits to jump on any Swedish bandwagon has little to do with guys over here disrespecting the Swedes or even not wanting to give them credit, it has however everything to do with us wanting someone from our neck of the woods to represent us in the same way.

I do hope though, Joy's result will act as inspiration to some of our teams and shows us everybody what is achievable if a team works hard and listens.

I think there are more than just a few, who know what effort you have put in over the years.

Wish I'd been there to see it. You'll just have to do it again for me to watch at LA. :D

Congratulations.
