Looks good. Do you think the o-rings will go through detents faster?

The bolts are shipping this week.

Basically, XSV and Avalanche and a couple of other players and teams have been running some of the prototypes of this bolt for around 4 months. We have been testing them since the start of the season.

The o-rings are essential to the operation of the bolt and cannot be removed. The grooves are a slightly different size, so the rings do not need lubricating.

The way it works is simple. Most breaks are caused by force-feed loaders pushing part of the second ball into the breech and as the bolt fires out the first ball it cracks, fractures or weekens the second ball. When this second ball falls into the breech it is already weakend or cracked and when it is fired it blows up down the barrel and right on the face of the bolt.

So what you need is a nice big ramp to ramp the bottom of that second ball back up the feed nice and gently. Unfortunately in doing this, you open the face of the bolt to the breech and get MASSIVE blow back. So we put the rings back on to create a seal. But then, you are back, sort of, to square one. So we put undercuts under the o-rings where the ramp is so that as the ball rides the ramp, the o-rings dip out of the way. As the bolt gets all the way forward, past the second ball, the o-rings pop back out and seal out the breech, and hey, no blowback................

This bolt I am REALLY happy with. We have even gone to the trouble of placing a patent application on this as it allows the players to shoot paint they have NEVER been able to shoot before with force feed loaders. It really does make that much of a difference.

Yes they will be available in San Diego...........

hes contradicting himself there really, he says without a seal that you get massive blowback and they have the orings to contradict this... but then states they have a cutout that allows the orings to "dip out of the way" when the ball goes over it  that means your gonna get pretty bad blowback anyway since there is no seal.
Looks asthough they havent put much more effort into shamphering the bolt face to cussion the ball on a larger surface area either which IMHO is the main problem with ego bolts.

but let us know how it goes :p i trust eclipse have done a good job.

But when the bolt is moving forward (when another ball could possibly chop)the o-rings would be under the feedneck so they wouldn't create a seal anyway?

they wouldn't have released it if it didn't work now would they.

orings save the day once again!
the first of the stock bolts barely worked did they..... and apart from that companys do tend to release new products for the market of people that think something new is always something better (note the easy install indicater for bellends that dont even know which way it goes round), i think it looks like a bit of a gimmick and the fact that there is a giant hole means your gonna get blowback, but we'll see i suppose.

bob: think about what your saying, when the bolt is forwards and the ram is just coming into contact with the valve the orings are supposed to be providing a seal, but how can then if there is a gap inbetween them and the bolt surface at the top? he also states the orings dont need lubing because they are smaller in rad than the bolt itself, this furthers sealing problems.

I actualy find the easy install very useful:eek: , it makes putting the pin into the rammer much easier than scraping about.

Fair enough on the bolt point, I can't realy throw any technical experties into the fray. I assume it works and if it has been test on field for 4 months with positive results then bonus.
Maybe its one of these things that works for an unknown reason. Maybe Nicky T et al will be able to explain abit more when there back from CC.
