As far away from you as possible
Oh I know that its just I want recognition for woods( NOT playing army I wear digi cammo because it works I havnt had on escenario marker just the A-5 i started with then its been Timmys,Angels X mag so its hardly playing army).
It seems every time all peopel think about woods is playing armywhen thats just not the case, that is mil sim agmes that can be played out of the woods.
I am happy with progress through SPPL genesis ect but I do want more public recognition because we get NONE! I want a small slice of the media pie for my chosen sport.
I play woodsball, not scenario( well stargaate :p ) and defiantyl not mil sim games. Soon to be playing sup air aswell, but this all ready has all th epublicity so Iam not bothered.
p.s.I wasnt arguing woods was better ,just equil.
You make a true point though, any publicity for paintball in general is good , I just wish some of it came our way for once.

So staying hidden in a full action ghillie for instance, perfectign the art of not beign spotted and taking 10 players on your own in one spot befor emoving on. This doesnt require a lot of skill?
The level of skill required to play both is basicly non at all, but to play them well due to the fact mos tpeople who play woods dont do drills and train a lot then woodsball will require less skill to become better than the average joe.
Distances ar elonge rin woodsball thus needing more accuracy, if you go and spray 20 balls on one person whilst the rest of his team are consealed you will give you position away and immidietly be shot out.
Tyger has actually stated on film he isnt good enough to play liek the pro's and he never has any disalusions about hsi weight or physical fitness.
This is the entirety of the attitude I am talking about, woodsball requires different skills but to become excellent you still need to hone them.
e.g. using a strongside tactic is very usefull in woodsball and making that strategy reactive takes a LOT of team work and you need to be working as a team for a while to pull it off .
Now thes etype of tactics are extremely skilled and just as difficualt as some aspects of sup air.
p.s. when making a flag run I have to sprint for a huge distance at pull pace , this is athletiscism and I am very athletic, at times I need to run past the full length of a sup air field( on average) so that statement about running is just plain wrong.
Phillips, there is nothing about woodsball you can tell me mate, I am not being arrogant here, I know all about the techniques and tatctics required to play woodsball and played at a higher level of woodsball than tyger could have even imagined let alone played himself but you have to look at what that man writes and understand where he's coming from.
He's a very bitter, jealous man.

I got no agendas either way, I will tell you what is what because I have played both, and chosen one, and that choice was effected merely because I wanted to align myself with what I believed to be the most difficult to play and heading in the right direction.
Tourney is for athletes and serious sportsmen and this is ebcause the skill set required is a lot more sophisticated and demanding.
I can see by what you write you haven't yet grasped some fundamentals of the game and maybes when you played in the woods for about another 5 years and then gone on to play pro for another 5, maybe then your opinion will have a little more gravitas.
At the moment, you have an opinion borne out of your experience only and a few platitudes thrown in for good measure.

Anyway, I ain't dissing people who play woods, good luck to them is what i say but puuurrrllleeease, don't try and tell me woods ballers are on a parity with tourney ballers coz I just ain't having that sh!t !

This thread has annoyed me a bit, not because of the original post (just someone posting their view) but some of the responses. Yet again there have been people saying "my way is better because I think so" which is of course no arguement at all, just preference, and all this does is cause a split between the 2 groups of ballers.
There will always be a place for woodsball as some people just plain prefer it, so to try to get rid of it completely (as some would do) will just reduce the total number of players around.
I've played woodsball (tournament, scenario etc), I've played arena type ball. I like both, and on the rare occasions I still play I'll do whichever I have the opportunity to do and enjoy myself. In MY view neither one is better I enjoy both, but they are completely different games and I enjoy them for different reasons. Live & let live is my view on woods vs arenas.

BTW Gandalf, why be so dismissive about Robbo's view here? I've known Pete an awful long time & watched him play both types, and though I may not always agree 100% with everything he says I do and will always respect his opinions, as they will be based on many years of top level experience and must be listened to and given consideration for that reason alone. Add to that his genuine passion for the sport and it's betterment, plus the fact that he obviously puts a lot of thought into everything he does, and dismissing his opinion lightly shows either personal bias or very shallow thinking

Who gives a **** really? Play what you like to play and let other people play what they like to play. This is just like the whole Airsoft vs. Paintball debate: they're not even close to the same thing, people play them both for completely different reasons, each group enjoys their respective competition, so why is there any reason why they should even be compared? It's like street hockey vs. ice hockey, tennis vs. raquetball, NFL vs. AFL (American football formats, for those wondering). So paintball started in the woods. Great. Some players decided they'd rather shoot a lot of paintballs at each other in a much shorter amount of time and in a much smaller space. Games evolve like that. If Tyger doesn't want those lunatics who perverted his beloved game taking part in it, I've got a great insight for him: THEY AREN'T. They're playing their own corrupted version of the original. And what do you care? Evidently there's still plenty of good ol' boys showing up in the middle of the boondocks with their cammo, motorola radios, 50 foot "sniper" barrels, face paint and combat boots, 90% of people who play by his account, so what have you lost? If you don't want them in your game, and don't care what they think, then isn't this "manifesto" kind of preaching to the choir?

Word.
I was thinking similar things when I was reading this thread.
Comparing the two is like comparing apples and pears. They're different. They taste different. They smell different. They look different. Only similarity is they both grow on trees.
Why would you want to compare woods and tourney style ball? It's like comparing soccer and American football. Undoubtebly they share some common ancestry, but both types of game have evolved to be two totally different beasts. It ain't the same game, so don't bother...
