And I thought we were going to hear an amusing anecdote about the prepostourous lies they told you...

are just raising threads to celebrate sightings of them now?
I've already done that on the first posting about them a few weeks ago :D

Although I thought the one that Robbo posted up was best.

Saw them in my town centre a few weeks ago, so me and my friend who I've brought into paintball decided to go have a look.

He was already selling tickets to someone, 8 tickets for £50. Those include no paint
Me and my friend waited our turn, since the guy serving then sounded like the "knowledgeable" one, over the big breasted girl at least :D

We heard him claiming top of the line kit somewhere, so I piped in hey, that marker, what is it?

It has Inferno embossed on the side, but he kept insisting it was an Angel 150. He also claimed that as it top of the line, its not as big as most guns, so that means you can leopard crawl with it.

We laughed and walked away

Bluewater - Ministry

Although a newbie at the scene, have really been doing a lot of research so that I can get the most from the equipment I buy and the walk ons I intend to start with. Also, my mates have asked me to arrange a paintball day so we are all booked into to go to a local Delta Force at the end of the month (please, at the time of booking I didn't know any better - Sorry Sabotage MK!), so I'm pretty up to date on pricing for these kind of days.

Saw Ministry of Paintball at Bluewater today and not knowing any better walked up and said hi and said I wanted to get some information about their sites and prices. All the guy did was try and sell me huge quantities of tickets for supposedly discount rates available for sale that day only. (website sells them anyway at that rate)

I tried to divert the conversation away from him selling me tickets and tried to talk about the game, equipment, and what my local site could offer etc, and he kept going back to trying to sell me tickets. It was obvious he was clueless. I even asked him what kind of marker it was he had on show (knowing it was an Inferno Mk2), and he stopped and said, 'marker? well this gun is the best on the market!'

Getting a bit annoyed I asked him how he thinks that he is selling value for money tickets when Delta Force are selling cheaper tickets and paint. At that point he got really irate and started to have a pop and I decided I can't talk to this arsehole anymore without getting voilent and just walked off.

Ministry of Paint salesman. More like Antisalesman. Worst advert for paintball I have seen so far.

Also, have you read their website. What a load of sh!t.

I was wearing a NXe t-shirt, Eclipse Baller hoodie and dye wristband when they stopped me in the street to ask if i'd ever considered playing paintball. Even when i pointed to the logos on my clothes the dude just said 'What? Are they supposed to mean something to me?'. He really didn't have a clue :D

Society is a two way street Marcus Geezer, you get out what you put in. Seems to me he wasn't that interested in you talking about you just because you are new and keen to show off. From what I know of them, Ministry have over a hundred sites they deal with so they probably wouldn't know ALL the details of the ones you wanted info on. You could have got that detail from the website I bet. You seem to be becoming a bad advert for paintballers. You failed to "divert him" away from selling, (which after all was his job) then YOU got annoyed and nearly "voilent" (sic) when he didn't appreciate you miss-informing him about DF prices being cheaper on paint and tickets. That just isn't true; deeper research needed on your part to resolve that one. Check out lunch price at DF as opposed to free elsewhere and look at bulk prices for paint. DF seem to have set prices whereas the sites Ministry sell into seem to have some good deals on bulk paint. I saw a couple sites that are selling at £85 for 2000 for instance, which is very good public pricing. Maybe the next time you see a stand selling something you have no intention of buying you should resist the temptation to try to show off your recently acquired knowledge and just walk away. It would save you nearly losing it and taking a swing at someone when they blank you and might even improve your social skills. I am sure it probably didn't happen quite the way you describe though. Direct Sellers are not really for the serious players who want to go tournament or for those who limit their days to walk ons to benefit from cheaper prices because the sites aren't busy. People like Ministry and DF/IPG bring new people into the sport who would not normally come alone or in very small groups because they dont yet know how it grows on you. They are an entry portal to the whole thing, mostly bought as presents by mums and others looking for a novelty present for someone. The people who then become interested in the sport move on from the initial convenience they offer to doing it off their own back. Lets not knock the Direct Sellers for doing that, independent sites would close without the business they bring in. Be critical on miss-selling on stands sure, but not on introducing new blood to the sport by selling group tickets from a stand. arg1271 and his fellow "ballers" dont need the convenience of an entry level introduction so why diss the people that provide the service to others? Stick to your level and leave the others alone, everyone starts somewhere. Strongle and Raffles seem to have it right. Maybe more understanding and an appreciation of the different market these guys sell into would stop some of you from knocking the very people who bring the majority of the new players into the game. You might not need them now but they do a very necessary job to support our sport so give them a break.

And in laymens terms:

If there were no punters then walkons / Tournament would not be here.

Please understand that sites could not make a profit if all game days were walkons.

Why don't we go out with the same marketing techniques as these guys, advertising tournament paintball? Say you could sell a place on an 'all rental' team entered into the KOTH or something like that. You could go around to schools and shiz, i bet that would get loads of people into paintball if you had a guy dressed up etc.

S'all about sports promotion, the DF and Ministry seem to have it, why dont we do the same?

You work for them by any chance? they dont do a necessary job, there a profit making bussiness, and dont do a very good job of it, end of...

Would like to see Ministry and the other pure "Customer / Rec" companies help to promote Tournament play though.
but then we'd all end up in the wrong place, at the wrong time and expect paint that the site in question knew nothing about:rolleyes:
