Emek thoughts

Hi Guys,

Probably going to look into getting the PE Emek sometime in the next 6 months or so. I'm really getting into the mech side of things. What would you say is the absolute most important upgrade to get for the Emek. Preferably asking those who have played with it completely stock and then had some"game changing" upgrade fitted. Let me know your thoughts!

Word of caution, they are great markers but spending all the monies on all the aftermarket parts.... well it's no longer as great a value for money.
Get it, go play with it for a few days then consider spending money if you already have a decent, goggle, mask, pack, MOT money put aside, started your pension early............

What can you change that almost makes sense

ASA - Pops ASA is more convenient and screwing / unscrewing a tank is not going to do any favours to the threads in the long run in the long run.
Barrel - it's open bolt, doesn't really need a barrel kit but everyone loves to spend money on them.
Hair 45 valve - yes it will have a lighter trigger pull, clearly never shot an automag or brass eagle jaguar.....

Other stuffs if you have money and really want to spend....

Back cap - don't recall the last time I needed to drop all the guts out mid game....
3D printed / metal replacement parts for other stock parts - purely aesthetic now

Yes I've seen BZ's pimped out Emek for £450. For that money you really are verging on going for a nice second hand mid to high end marker.

Also, with all those upgrades mentioned. Does it feel/perform aswell as a marker in the same price range (emek plus aftermarket parts)?

Massive fan of the emek platform.

The POPs asa is a really good quality of life upgrade. It is the only one I really feel is a necessary change.

I have a CF dye ultralite barrel on mine... but that is because I use that barrel on everything (personal preference... I like how it looks).

I found that you can still hand crank the stock bolt cap if you don't torque it down too much when putting the bolt back in.

You really don't have to do anything out of the box with these markers... they perform great, and are very simple to maintain... people will wax lyrical about how they bought a hair valve / bang switch / sweet spot trigger and can now rinse 15bps over the chrono... but who cares.

The only upgrade I’m looking for is the POPS ASA. May pick up a new Air Tank but as for the gun I’m happy as it is

Good to hear someone say it's good to go straight out of the box. I've heard that when I started researching but also heard so many people say upgrade the barrel.

Why does being open bolt mean it doesn't really need a barrel kit? I'm not too familiar with this yet.

Does the pops mean you can pop a pressurised bottle on and off? As opposed to screwing and what? What happens then? You unscrew and bottle loses pressure needing to be refilled every time or just that it puts west on the threads?

Either way you screw the cylinder onto the ASA

The cylinders regulator turns itself on & off when it’s pin is pressed against the appropriate point of the ASA
The whole cylinder does not lose pressure, it will close its pin and retain pressure. The only air that gets lost is the amount sat in the airline that gets purged

When the pin is pressed the regulator is ‘on’ and air comes out, when the pin is released it seals

With a basic ASA the pin is pressed against a fixed point, air is released as the cylinder is screwed into place.
When you unscrew you only lose a bit of air, but it can be difficult to unscrew as that point is under pressure

With an on/off ASA a second pin in theASA engages and disengages the cylinders regulator pin.
You flick it to off before screwing on, therefore no air is released
You flick it to on when you are ready and it feeds air to the gun

When you are finished, (or inbetween games) you flick the ASA to off and a small amount of air is purged
Theoretically the gun cannot shoot (but there may be enough air beyond the internal regulator for a couple of shots)
There is no pressure at the ASA and you can easily unscrew with no pressure
