A frustration of mine is the Facebook inspired fragmentation of Paintball

There are a handfull of calendars on Facebook & the internet, one of which is run by Black Widow

Chris’ calendar was my favourite as he was running the official Scenario calendar and developed it to all forms of paintball. Unfortunately from my last conversation about it he still owns and hosts the calendar but no longer maintains it. It gets very little traffic (at times I seemed to be the only person generating traffic) and it needs all the information from game organisers

There also seems to be less scenario games these days? am i right? or are they just victim of not putting the word out there?

It would coincide that i see less scenario teams as well?

There are definately less scenarios than in the hey day about 10 years ago. Probably the same with teams
Some of it that real life happened to people, there have been dramatics with a certain event organiser, and people may have changed styles, gone to tournaments, Airsoft etc.
Quite a few of the names from the good old days are still about in paintball but equally a number of the names are gone. I have also seen a few names come back to look around for what’s going on

What I see is a reversion back to more use of local walkons along with people traveling to a small number of the national games. Depending on locality there can be a strong following in an area, for example there are some strong MagFed followings, but that depends on the sustainability of the games for the sites to run them - magfed typically means more limited paint, which is good for the players pocket to shoot less, but unless the numbers turn up it pushes up the other costs for the site to run the game

However there is work afoot with Martello of Paintball magazine having inspired a few of the old teams to get motivated and there will be more scenario games in 2019. There have been some mentions of this on Facebook, but I’m not too sure about how much has officially been put out yet
(There is also the matter of stealth advertising on here without going through the right way in line with forum rules)

There will be more scenario in 2019 then there was in 2018, and hopefully it will prompt the players of today to think as I did 10 years ago with “I could do that” — some won’t actually bother, some will fail - but it only takes a couple to reinvigorate the scene and show us old folks how to do things!!!!!!!!!!!
