Just wanted to drop in and say hi - have been rentals a few times over the last 15 years, would like to get more involved as have always had a blast!!

Based in the SE (Eastbourne area) - there seems to be a lot of sites nearby. Have my own vehicle so willing to travel. So far I have found:

Holmbush
Campaign
Maybem
Bullswood
Demolition
Driverwood
Delta force
1066

Do any of these do walk on if I wanted to progress from rental? Any worth a visit or avoiding?

Looking to visit holmbush again in September with a view to get some information on the next logical step. I'd like to pick up some gear and get involved with some walk-ons, but I'm struggling to find much information online?

Any pointers would be great - think I am more looking for woodball but am open to try any game!

Thanks for all the great knowledge already contributed on the forum - a great resource!

Heya, next step would be to move on to Walk-Ons. You're looking about £20-£30 for the pitch fee and starting at about £25 for a box of paint (2000). Most walk on sites will let you rent marker, hopper and tank and you can still have lots of fun with a 98 custom!

I'm near Hastings, and haven't heard any good things about 1066 (it is near enough my next door neighbor), but I also haven't been myself, so couldn't personally comment.

My team's usual walk-ons are (although we've just got back from the Mayhem Big Game, so won't be out until September now):
Driverwood (Gatwick) on the 1st Sunday every month.
Campaign (Cobham) on 2nd Sunday.
Mayhem (Romford) on 3rd Sunday.

With regard to what to buy first: Mask, you'll be very tempted to buy shiny new marker but a cheap mask will ruin your day. Something like Empire Eflex or EVS, DYE I4 or I5, HK KLR, Vforce Grills, Virtue Vio are all good masks, but you will need to try them on before you buy one.
I have had Sly Profits (major fogging issues), Dye I4 (didn't fit me well) and Empire Eflex (which I swear by, and now have three spares frames), I'd love to give the Push Unite a go but not for £165!

Stuff to buy later would be:
Marker (ridiculous amount of choice out there, but something like an Empire Axe would be a good start).
Hopper (I've seen Dye Rotors for sale for £40, and they are bombproof).
Tank (buy HPA not CO2, quite often somewhere like Just or BZ will sell short date 3K Steelies for about £30-£40, good starter).
Pod Pack (anything really, they start at about £5 secondhand).
Barrel (stock barrel that comes with marker will do fine to begin with, but something like a Freak barrel or Hammerhead will make a massive difference).

Clothing wise ex army camo or a hoody (just make sure it's a dark colour) plus a sturdy pair of boots .

You'll no doubt get loads more advice, and if you enjoy it you will very quickly find new gear starts accumulating.

If you have any questions just ask and if you see Band of Badgers around, come say hello!

Just seen your edit (I've been writing in between work, lol).

Holmbush definitely have a walk on, haven't been yet, but heard great things.
Bullswood I think do a walk-on, but not sure. They do however do Stalingrad Big Game in November, which is absolutely fantastic. Chris will be there with his shop Super Fives if you wanted to buy some gear (think he's at Campaign in October too).
Delta Force avoid like the plague.

Come to the UKWM Round 4 to check holmbush out - there will be plenty of people there so you can look at kit etc.

Don't think I'll have any gear sorted by then unfortunately - but appreciate the info!

Cheers for the heads up! Big game sounds fun - I reckon I'll be sorted by then :)

I'll have to do a tour of the walk ons - keen to go back to Holmbush!
