JT D.I.Y. Thermal Lense 2.0

Hi,
cause my ca. 15 years old Lense cracked finaly (the inside one) so i had to think about ... !?!?!?

Cause i got a free bad lense one from a friend i thought using her much stronger front lense to build a much more lifetime, stability etc. inside lense out of !!!

As seal i used is a line which you use to hang on wet clothes, i only removed the wire from inside for more flexibility but i go Change this cause she´s red, as soon i found some black well Fitting hose, foam etc. for this Job !!!

Cause the D.I.Y. inside lense fits very well, so the ends(sides) of the inside lense will get pushed Forward by the Frame against the seal.

I have new clear lenses for sale pretty cheap and much better for your eyes

But new ones are getting more and more bad in Quality(cause the inside stock thermal lense doesn´t sticks well to front glas, also she´s under permanent pressure cause her natural form would be flat, which also explain me why the cracks inside her are always vertical) !!!

Yes i understand your worries, but i think my front glas is still in fine condition, no cracks etc. and i do take care about my mask, more than to other paintball things (i just shower her only with cold water for cleaning this is also is healthy for the straps(rubber) but they also have an easy life cause "double strap=half stress", store her onfield in the shadow for dry cause UV-Light is killer, always on top when transport her in her bag).

If you read the Manual which is mostly written in style like "buy a new lense after each hit" for me this is like making Panic to noobs who think safty is a good Argument and a few helpfull tips are inside too. Shure PC-Plastic is getting older and weak but mostly cause of a bad user, UV(sunlight), stress(hard life) etc.

If i would build one with a fresh bought new lense than we wouldn´t have to talk about the Age of the lense ! (I got this discussion in german Forum too. Cause there is no test so i already thought about putting an old lense on the southside at the window and wait for may 5 years and than go shoot at her and see what realy happens !?!?!?)

Shure safty first, but before i go start the season i go shoot a couple of +300fps on her, if there no cracks i would say she´s fine but ... !!!

Cause there is no real test, we all have to speculate and some guys use this for making Money !!!

I love your work, and enjoy seeing your projects. It's clear you're a clever chap.

Take my advice though please - don't fxck with the masks or lenses. It's a really bad idea, and a very poor example to set on a public forum.
Stick to the guns. best to leave the lenses alone buddy (and HPA tanks! Don't f with those either!)

Funny you should mention that. I just made an HPA tank lighter by taking the reg off and Duct Taping it to the gun. It flew around the room a bit when I loosened the reg, but nothing important got damaged. And I made some goggles lighter by removing the faceplate, like how we rolled in the 90's.

Thanks, yes you´re right using a 15 years old lense isn´t that clever but ..., i don´t trust in the industry they´re only Goal is making Money with easy stories they suck out of their fingers. If your just a brainwashed cosumer which is to lazzy to think about realy important things cause cosuming the next trash is more important than think about real things than you are a perfect tax payer ... so if we could turn back time and i´ve never had been written something about the Age of my lense everthing should be fine or ???

So i´ve found the perfect seal material !!!

I used an old Mousepad(the foam of), cut it out by using the Thermallense2.0 as size(negative). Cause there was still some glue which has connected the surface of the pad on the foam it sticks well enough, so i don´t had to use some extra glue. Installation is als much easier cause there is no movement of the seal and the best i think it´s much better looking in black !!!

I also thought ... if you would have a permanent thermal lense you just Need to buy a single frontlense each year so the costs should be lower for the customer and mother nature too and the lifetime of the thermal lense would be many years i´m shure. No glue needed on outside lense is also healthy for plastic i think, 2.0 lense seals just by pressure and on the inner thermal lense glue could be aggresive and it still would be save.
Shure Change a JT lense isn´t that easy(comfortable) like on other masks but i would say if you Change it more than ones a year you do stress yourself. Use shower with cold water it will reach each Little gap of your mask, after use dry kitchen paper to suck up the water and dirt which is in the face foam and let her dry not in sunlight, done !

Not sure what you mean, but its the government and the insurance companies, not the industry, that would be the problem in this case.

I just tried to explain why i don´t believe in everthing which is written, cause i like to use my brain to think about why things are like they are and how they work etc. i think we have a bad Inzest between goverments and friends already

So alot talking about not lenses, better we get back to Topic !!!
