I wear an eclipse one and it has saved me a few times from hits and reduces the bruises I had. It shaped so its fits well.

Get a second hand one if your not sure its worth it or that you will wear one all the time. Im old so wear mine every time I play :)

How do you play?
For general play a bounce vest is personal taste. I'd generally prefer loose clothing
For tournament play you are restricted on rules for the number of layers, so worth it when things get up close or when refereeing or photographing when you could be staying put with repeated direct impact

For scenario it's not essential to have a bounce vest, it's just extra padding in specific areas and can overheat you making you sweat

I'd recommend just wearing layers of loose clothing. But if you are taking hits to painfull areas then go for a bounce vest

Hi there
I started out wearing a paintball jersey with foam padding in it ( eclipse hde camo jersey )
It does soften the blow a bit.. but in the end I found it too hot, I get shot less when I move faster. Sometimes less is more... its easy to waste money on equipment you think you might need but in practice it makes very little difference.
Like the others say though it's all down to personal preference
