"If you can't wait that long then you can upgrade your membership by purchasing platinum membership"

Okay-okay. So, this whole X amount of non-spam replies + 2weeks waiting + blabla is to protect people in the classified section for example in the For Sale.

The platinum membership is £8 / year. For this fee you let everyone into the classified section. This makes me believe that the whole reason is not to protect people but making money on new arrivals.

If I see the stuff I would like to buy, I would probably go for the platinum membership. After paying the fee for that, even if I would say "i am a scammer" (which I am not) you cant ban me as I have not broken the rules, only made a comment somewhere on the forum.

This is silly......
I also dont see the point how can I rip off people by buying stuff? I pay first and they send it with tracking, right? So whats the point making this to be classified. As PayPal have Purchase Protection this makes absolutely no sense in my opinion...
The original inspiration for the rule was the buyer in the thread linked below - a purchaser who abused the PayPal buyer protection policy for their own scamming

http://p8ntballer-forums.com/threads/fraudulent-activity-by-a-buyer-warning-to-all-members.157684/

Because the seller made the two mistakes of
1) losing the tracking number
2) telling the buyer it was lost

The buyer took advantage of the lost details to initiate a scam. Luckily the tracking number was found, giving proof of delivery signed by the buyer (or their 'dad' with the same name who didn't tell his son the parcel arrived)

The primary purpose of this forum is a place for discussion (hence the name)
The rule was not just invented to bring in money, that option was added later.
Platinum membership existed long before the rule existed, it's an optional method for members to support the forum and its running costs - hosting etc
You could save on paying annually and get lifetime membership

Consider this a post to aid you with discussion
But beware that repeated posts one after the other discussing the rubbish rules with yourself could result in post counts being cut back by the moderators

Mate, I can ban you for having a bad day. Breaking rules is a sure shot to get a ticket to Bansville, but this ain't a democracy, this ain't a country with fixed laws. Our mods have the power and the authority to ban as they see fit. This is because we trust our mods' judgment. Simples.

And of the rules are that bad, feel free to go elsewhere. I'd be sad to see you go, but I'm not gonna beg for you to stay either.

Hi Buddha 3, thanks for your reply.
I needed to read it 3 times to realize that you react on my sentence of "cant ban me as I did not break the rules"(I am bit tired, being awake since 3am..). You can ban for having a bad day as you have the authorithy and the power. Fair enough, I understand it.

But the main point I wanted to make with my comments above is:
If someone wants to scam people he will try, no matter if you make him to wait 2 weeks or not. In my opinion the £8 fee into the premium membership just makes it worse as anyone can basically buy himself in.

Okay, so do I have a better solution for this problem or am I just the usual complainer?
Well, I have ideas but those would create another few problems to think of.

I hope you don't have a bad day.

In an ideal world we'd let anybody join and all would be well. Unfortunately we've had a number of scammers on here in the past. Fact is though, that since we put this new ruling in place, we've had close to zero, so it is working.
The reason buying Plat gains you instant access, is that the payment methods ensure that your identity is confirmed. I don't think I need to explain why that is a good thing.

Sincerely happy to see you're still around.

I think its a good idea personally, protects the members and gives new folk a cooling off period to calm down and not buy everything shiny that they see straight away... oooh shiny
