Hey guys

I've been out of paintball for a number of years as I just didn't have the money to play. Now I'm a little older and have more money behind me I'd like to get back into playing on walk-ons with my older brother.

Currently I've got a Proto matrix rail 07 which I've had its stock board updated about 2008-09 & I'm guessing I need to get the board updated again to make sure all the modes comply with field restrictions? Also Ive got my old empire carbon fiber air tank which has not had air in it for a while and needs to be retested but is within its lifespan. Wondering if it would be a smart idea to get its reg replaced with something better like a ninja regulator or if that is just pointless and the one that has been sitting on it is fine. Or is the fact that it hasn't had any air in it for a while a big no no and I should just buy a new air bottle?

Also I'm looking at buying a better loader, since what I had (Egg V2 lol) has broken on its battery compartment and Im thinking about the dye rotors. The new one looks pretty nice, but wondering how much of a improvement it is over its previous generation which has several nice colours more then the updated version.

Also I'm in the Essex / London area and looking for any good recommendations for a good place to go play on walk-on days and how many people attend, looking for mainly sup-air but I wouldn't say no to woods ball given the chance. Thank you for any help and hope to see you on the field

If the reg on the old bottle works, I'd keep it! If there's no visible damage and plenty of time before it's death date, I'd probably get the bottle tested too.

As for the marker, it'll certainly work and I'm pretty sure the board will be okay - can it go down to 10.5bps?

Hopper is defo worth changing, as the old eggs were a 'mare. A halo or reloader will set you back £30 (plus or minus a bit for condition) - although Rotors have dropped a lot in price and are a good deal for the £60-70 they seem to sell for.

A new cylinder will set you back circa £150
Your old one should have no particular issues just for having been empty. Standard advice is to leave some air pressure in to keep seals, and more particularly from the scuba world to keep out damp and the risk of internal rust

If you've got no doubts about the cylinder and there would be enough life to make it worthwhile then go for retesting. The actual cost will vary depending on your access to a test centre or a site/retailer that you can arrange it for you. The greatest element of cost would be if it had to be posted in either or both directions

The regulator also should have no particular issues, and as its been empty then burst disks shouldn't have any shortening of life

I'd say test it and the see how the regulator gets on

Gun modes should have no issues, just ensure that you are set within velocity, rof and if applicable that ramping kicks in within specified limits.
Check the wpbo website for this years rule set

Your egg would still be capable of doing the job, but force feed hoppers are very affordable
I'm an advocate of the halo etc but the rotor is a 'value added' hopper and can be had for good prices at the moment due to the new model

I'll have to look again at the manual as far as what my board has been updated last but I think 10.5bps might not be available if i recall correctly. Is 10.5 the limit now on fields?

Yeah I'm really interested in getting a rotor, something nice and blue to go with the rest of my gear. I'm kinda thinking to purchase it new to do my bit and keep the industry going. Just have to decide between a R2 or the older one. They both look really nice.

I thought that might be the case regarding the tank in terms of it was stupid of me not to keep any pressure in the tank. I do hope that its alright. I'm going to get the bottle tested. I didn't know if to do it via Lips or a specialised testing place near me that charge £25 per bottle. Lips had the added service of changing the reg. Just checking with the place near me if they test the reg as well as the bottle with their fee.

I don't really have any doubts about the cylinder, but I don't wish to take any chances with it either. As long as the testing covers the bottle and regulator I would be happy to use it.

I think for the gun, I might need to change the O-rings since its just been sitting there and I'll probably get allot of sticking or 1st ball drop off. I just need to find somewhere good to purchase new o-rings for my pro to matrix. Do you know of anywhere that does them?

Yeh i'm really interested in the rotor. My brother has one and raved about it at the time. I just don't know if its worth me getting a R2 or the 1st release.

At walkons etc sites may allow higher, but 10.5 is now the tournament standard. (Noting that 10.5 is the max - set to 10.5 and you may find it drifting over on a spot check)

The pmr07 factory board had 10bps as option 1

If you need a new mask, make sure you try them on before purchasing. I recently bought a new lens for my Flex (I bought this mask 17 years ago), and sold my I4 in a heartbeat.
