whats a good set up for a 12 year old
Pretty much the same as for others

3000psi aluminium air, halo hopper, goggles that are comfy and gun of choice

It will depend on where and what type of games will be played
If playing punter sites only such as delta force then minimize the gear bought and star with decent goggles
If allowed to play with your own gun at a punter site then something basic and mechanical
If going for walkons, scenarios, tournament style then a basic electronic gun

Depending on how slight and weak or big and tough a 12 year old then that may dictate the gun and air, however a modernish electronic gun and a 3000psi aluminum should not be too be too heavy for most players

Its down to personal flavour, all markers you listed works well in most situations. Axe is a bit better if you have bigger hands while mini is abit smaller.
I'd never even considered that. That's probably the mini out of the question now tbh. Cheers!!

I've been going to my local games for a bit now and I'm thinking of investing in my first marker and could do with some advice. From speaking to people at events I think I've narrowed it down a little.

I'm settled on buying second hand to try and keep costs down and I'm hoping not to spend too much over £200-230 if I can help it for marker, tank and hopper. Thinking all three in one deal to save 3 lots of payments, postages, trips to post office, etc.

From advice I've had so far, I'm looking at the following:
Etha
Etek 4
Axe
Mini GS.

Can anyone recommend what they think would be best or if there are any others that should be on that list please?

Also, with Christmas coming up is the buying marked likely to be better in January after everyone's had shinny new toys? I know that happens with a lot of other sports.

Thanks!!!!
I would look at a older geo or ego there nice markers. Not to sure how much they are! They might be just over your budget but would be worth it.

I have looked at the geo, they are pricey though! Is there any issue with buying old markers? Just assuming people are always buying new for a reason??

No major issue with buying second hand
If you have an idea what you are after then there's plenty second hand choice, especially if you want the newest shiny gun - someone is bound to splash out to get it first then find they have spent all their money and can't afford to play or pay their bills, then they sell to you at a loss
(Or there are those who get a decent sponsorship deal and buy & sell quite quickly)

I would look for a second hand mini gs or etha.

At 12 he might like the games, but after getting hit a few times he might go off it.

So I wouldn't drop alot of money on a gun just yet, would look at the above 2 for now.

If you can, see if a local shop/site will let you come down and try a few out and see what fits his arms/frame.

I started with a DM6 (old now i know), it was bulletproof!
Any flagship marker in good condition with a couple of years on it from eclipse or dye would be my choice.
