Police? Phoenixing his business, unpaid debts, whilst unsavoury are civil matters. The rozzers won't be interested. If he's doing it as a tax evasion scam, there maybe some criminal comeback, but it doesn't look smart or well conceived enough. He has a serious liquidity issue, and is using future receivables to pay of his creditors (or not); a bit like a Ponzi scheme without the 5% portfolio gain YoY.

Whilst the antics of TB are certainly unsavoury, harbouring fantasies of a criminal conspiracy are probably wide off the mark as it appears a mental disorder is manifest (although if he owed me 60 bags I'd like to kick him in the sponge too). Look up malignant narcissism its him alright.

Well at least in the last 13 yrs, at least paintballs not changed that much, the retailers continue to kill off the game with false sponsorship, and industry has not managed to sort the supply of bullets. Shame.

Keep it up :)

If 'the industry' stopped supporting him then he wouldn't be able to continue.
I know when I've looked at his stuff on FB there are some surprising mutual friends of yours. I don't get it.
But then I don't need to and I'm genuinely not trying to stir sh!t with the above, it just surprises me is all.
Hmmm, I'm not gonna get pulled into that one Paul because I won't put words into people's mouths or speculate upon reasons as to why people continue to do business with someone like him.
I have some friends that continue their association with barnett but I value my friendship with them more than I value nailing barnett .... they have to do things how they see fit and I won't judge them for it, it's a bitter pill for me to swallow but they all know how I feel and so that's that.
Eventually, everyone will stop because if he ain't screwed them yet, it's coming ...

I've heard that apparently none other than jon payne of LayPuke has offerd to sell paint for staargate to barnett if the money is up front [no sh!t, really jon??? I wonder why :/ ]
... if I had to guess which individual in our industry was closest in mentality to sables and barnett, jon payne would have been my immediate prick, oops, I meant pick, sorry about that !!
Oh my, sables fronts money for barnett to buy paint from 'payne in the ass' .... I couldn't imagine a better triangle of treacherous basturds ... if it wasn't so serious it would be laughable.

Can you guys just imagine all three of them sitting round a table each holding one of the other's balls in anticipation of being screwed over at the stargate event ... which one would blink first?
I reckon barnett would screw payne first and then blame sables for making him do it ...

Do people think that TB can be trusted? Or are they betting on the fact he has a deep background in the game and can generate money.

At some point someone has to believe he's worth the punt for the cash.

Any investor can't believe that the way things are going would be a sound investment to continue to offer credit or product.

So either folks are deluded or they're being foolish. I'd like to believe it's because there's some form of terribly intricate lie spun which suckers them in, but at this point who would ever believe a single thing that, that corp has to say or promise. The risk is far too great surely.

Spike - for some people, cash works miracles.
Nobody in their right mind is gonna extend credit to him or trust one damn word that exits that phat-phuk of a mouth he has.

However, if barnett can keep his partner in crime convinced, sables, then he can lay his hands on cash.
All he has to do then is to find someone willing to prostitute their moral code for a few hundred quid and bingo, you have a business associate ..... Enter jon payne :/

Hi Robbo

its been a long time since we have spoken. but can i please confirm a few facts to you.
yes Tim barnett did ring me to ask if i could sell paint. Now i don't know the guy from Adam but i had a discussion, however certainly did not agree to sell paint and would ring him back. Fact!
I have had several conversations with both Steve Bull and Simon Cole about the situation. Having thought long and hard i tried to ring TB, was unable to speak to him, so I rang Andy Sables and said i was unable to sell paint to Staargate.
So being derogatory about me, one of my companies and my morality is a little unfair when you have not had the decency to at least ring and ask me the truth.
you might not like me, you may not respect me or my companies, but i have also been in this business for 25 years, made my mistakes and seen many people come and go. i would ask you to please ring me and if you won't do that, an apology on here would i feel at least would be right.

you can confirm with both Steve and Simon these facts.

and my ass is my ass!!!

and i certainly don't hold balls!!

Jon, Steve texted me and told me that you decided not to supply paint to barnett and I have zero problem in apologising for dropping you in it.

This thread, and situation has been a very long and testing education into the darker side of our sport and its 'characters'.
I've witnessed far too many examples of just how low some people will go for the sake of a few quid and I've allowed that to a influence my cynicism concerning certain aspects of our sport and some of the people in it.
I made a genuine mistake and once again I apologise for doing so.
Pete

PS I must have had over 20 messages from people telling me of this and that re this affair with barnett and you were the only example of a message that turned out not to be the case.
I hope you can maybe appreciate my response upon hearing you'd offered to sell paint to barnett.
The fact is though Jon, you didn't wish to agree to barnett's suggestion of him taking the cash and paying you afterwards [he must have thought you were some sort of mug in asking you to do that] but you did make the point leastwise to barnett, that for you to supply him with paint was only going to be acceptable if you were on site and you took the money personally.
It turns out you were going away for the weekend but the fact is Jon, you did make a conditional offer to supply.
I realise you may have said this to just put a hurdle in the way of barnett and you never really wanted to supply the paint, and so I hope you can understand the reason why I assumed you had offered to sell him paint albeit by default.

One thing regarding the consequences of what's happened with jon payne is the fact that barnett didn't have the money to pay john up-front and we know this because barnett's offer to jon payne was that barnett would take the money for the paint on the day and give what's owed for the paint to jon afterwards ... ha ha, fat phukin' chance that money would have ever ended up in jon payne's pocket and so is it any wonder that particular offer was turned down by jon payne.

And so, where are we now?
For whatever reason, jon payne decided not to supply paint to barnett and so barnett still needs paint or at least the cash to buy it ....
He has to get someone to supply paint but is it any wonder that nobody wants to do business with him in terms of extended credit lines?

I think money up-front for paint will still tempt some people and so we'll have to wait and see who steps up to supply barnett paint for the weekend.
All I can see in terms of options now available to barnett is his long-term partner in crime and chief haemorrhoid, mandy sables.
The possible options will be that sables offers to supply paint on site on the day but sables HAS to take the money himself.
He could not possibly take the risk of allowing barnett to take the money and paying sables later.

With Steve Bull now paid up-front, it just remains to nail the paint and remember here, the profit margin on the paint would have been significant and would have helped finance barnett's next event but even if he does find some mug to supply the paint, his margins are gonna be cut fine .... far too fine in fact.

Numbers are waaay down for this staargate event and indicative of a customer-base becoming more and more aware of exactly what they are dealing with.
It's not as if these people weren't warned but at least the message finally made in-roads into our player-base.
I realise this forum isn't rec/scenario focused but I'd like to think we try and protect their interests just as much as we endeavour to look after our tourney players ... we're all 'players' in this respect.

Somewhat gutting if staargate tanks, hopefully someone would take it over. Nice local game and going back a few years it use to be packed.
