Having a price up as looking to start playing and I was wondering, how important is barrel diameter? Is it worth me seeking out barrels of different diameters/a multi barrel kit or are stock barrels decent enough?
Thanks in advance.

Not realy worth it starting out, use the standard barrel
Save a barrel kit for the future when you've plenty money and know what you want to tweak

In the meantime put your money to playing

To pursue this question further; are all markers made to fit each others barrels ie a universal size? eg buying a planet eclipse marker and then fitting another brands barrel. I don't want to buy a marker which is prohibited to using just their brand for upgrades!
Cheers.

Whilst barrel size is a good thing to work on. as a starter it's not worth looking at right now.

There are many sizes available and to be honest most players I know get one barrel size and stick to it. a few others have sets that they take everywhere and use on different occasions. most of the time they change due to temperature, grade of the balls, and length of the barrel.

Saying that I play with an Etha which has a big bore on it and i've never bothered to swap if for a tighter bore.

Funnily enough you've hit the nail right on the head there, I am most interested in Planet Eclipse markers etha/etek but have heard that they over bore the barrels to deal with anything. However, I would be immediately looking to improve the marker and having a matching barrel diameter to the paintball seems advantageous to me. So much to learn, I guess I'll have to carry on researching!! Cheers for the help.

hey there welcome to the fab world of paintball buddy, i think most if not all people will agree that your mask is the most important piece of kit for a new starter, then find yourself a decent little shooter and go have fun. you will soon pick up the jargon and loads of advice from other players at your local field if you play regular enough. i bought an old etek3 and slowly added bits to it, freak barrel kit, kush bolt. etha or etek is a great first gun by the way, eclipse are easy to maintain and run for ever (from my experience) try a big event even like North vs South, went last year and it was f***ing epic.
